Chief Minister Gallagher has launched a new program today:

Chief Minister Katy Gallagher together with The Governor General, the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO today formally opened the Intentional Community, a new public housing development designed to better support the needs of people with disability in our community.

The Intentional Community in Phillip is a unique development – the first of its kind in the ACT – deliberately planned to enable three young adults with a disability to move into their own homes within a larger estate for 22 other public housing tenants.

“The Intentional Community provides accommodation for people with a disability to live independently, while receiving a mix of formal and informal support from neighbours as well as their families,” the Chief Minister said.

The ACT Government has worked with the three young men and their families, and invested $9 million in the project, funding construction of the houses and supply of the land.

One wonders what the three blokes could have done with the three million in cash each.
