bus interchange closed

Literal commuter chaos in the Civic Bus Interchange this morning for a police operation.

UPDATE: This in from the ACT Police media team:

Police responded to a report of a suspicious package on Alinga Street early this morning.

Alinga Street, between East Row and Northbourne Avenue, was closed temporarily while police conducted a search.

It was a false report.

The interchange is now open.

“Police responded to a report of a suspicious package on Alinga Street early this morning….It was a false report.”

I am curious, was the report false because….

[a] …there was no package.
[b] …the package was not suspicious (somewhat open to opinion).
[c] …there was a package, it was suspicious, but it wasn’t a bomb (in which case the report was not, strictly speaking, false).

The police thought my cat was a suicide bomber

Are you trying to catch a bus?

Ahh no but the two stops for the intertown buses were still open, the expresso bus stops on Northbourne are still open, it was just the platforms in Alinga street that were interrupted, one of which is for Deanes/Transborder + it all started about 1/4 to 9 at the end of the busy period.

It looked like Action had the bases covered. Yes it was busier in Mort St but it didn’t grind to a halt.

Anyway, its all finished now, doesn”t look like the dog found anything.

Are you trying to catch a bus?

Chaos, are you sure?

I am across the road & it doesnt look too chaotic to me, inconvenient maybe…..
