civic quick and go

The Irish Journal reports that Timothy McCarthy, the 41 year old Irish tourist king hit outside the Civic Quick and Go back on 24 July is off life support and improving in Canberra Hospital.

No-one, we suspect, will be happier at this news than his attacker who was facing a murder charge if he’d died.

You seem to know a lot about this case. How do you know they were complete strangers and how do you know it was done ‘just for the thrill of it’?

Because Tetranitrate just confirmed it for me above.

Oh, and here’s your dummy that you spat out in the previous thread.

Besides, what’s the big worry about copping a murder charge in Canberra these days anyway.

The key word here is “gratuitous”.

The difference is you go and hit a complete stranger, almost to death, just for the thrill of it. We haven’t seen those kind since Ivan Milat.

I think this young man has made a name for himself here in Canberra.

The version of events published in the media was basically that the Irish bloke was being a typical drunk annoying Irishman and was running around hugging people. When he hugged this guy the guy allegedly took a step back and elbowed him in the side of the head, sending the Irish bloke crashing to the ground, with the perpetrator then casually walking off.

Hope he recovers well.

His family and friends might be feeling okay about the news too.
