Yesterday Chief Minister Gallagher let rip with the balance of Community Centenary Initiatives funding.

There is now just one grant left to be announced.

“The latest round of funding provides over $395,802 for 31 further projects to be included in the already diverse program of events to celebrate Canberra’s centenary in 2013,” the Chief Minister said.

“This brings to 50, the total number of projects supported by the million dollar fund so far.

It’s a pretty good list I must say, who can say no to a kite festival over Lake Ginninderra?

Of particular interest is the much beloved Cashews getting $10k for a series of 10 guerilla gigs.

If you pay peanuts you get Cashews. Do gorillas eat cashews? They sound like cracking gigs. They shelled out for this one.

Endrey is pistachoed.

Interesting. Had actually wondered if the Cashews were angling for this kind of thing with all their history of Canberra songs, not that it’s a bad thing!

Nuts! Some people have all the fun.

Funded by an illegitimate regime to subvert the good old fashioned rate-paying venues – who are really the lifeblood of culture in this town.

A new low, even for the Cashews.

which regime? and for a bonus point, how are they ‘illegitimate’?

I suspect you’ll find Mr Endrey has his tongue in his cheek.

Blimey Endrey, that’s a bit strong isn’t it?

Funded by an illegitimate regime to subvert the good old fashioned rate-paying venues – who are really the lifeblood of culture in this town.

A new low, even for the Cashews.
