DFAT apologises for Perth travel warning
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has apologised for sending out a travel advisory warning that Perth is dangerous at this time of year.

Subscribers to the department’s email travel advice received the message overnight.

It is the same service that warns Australian travellers about other countries’ security and cultural conditions.

The department says the Perth message was mistakenly sent by an external contractor while testing a new mail system.

It says it has taken action to ensure that test messages will not be sent out again.

Perth is fine, my brother just came back from there. However, there are a lot of indigenous street kids, so some petty crime does occur.

Perth is the only city I have felt safe in, at 3AM in the CBD, wasted on any given evening. Also, the cops a really nice!

Funny as I am fom Qbn……and I feel safe walking home at 3am too. Never had an issue.(that I could not deal with) Neither have any of my kids.

Needless to say those of us who follow travel advisories were astonished. Also alarmed at the kisses.

It was followed a few hours later by this one:

One imagines a head waving on a stick outside the DFAT building.
