Some good replies here! Iggle nests tend to be enormous, I’ve only seen them in Nth America, in winter where you can see them, they are very structural and strong-looking, with ramparts. I’d imagine this is a lesser bird, as others have said mags or ravens. Mag nests are quite stick-y and sizeable.

The only eagles nest that I have personally witnessed wedgetail eagles using, looks way too big to fit into the tops of those towers. If someone felt like a short walk from the juvenile detention facility, I expect that this nest is still here and being used. It’s quite visible on nearmap.com

Difficult to see properly, but is similar to the nests made by Australian Ravens aka crows. They are great survivors and as long as they can find a few sticks and a high spot – it’ll do for a nest.

Hence the precarious, windblown lookout spot on top of a sailing ship mast is called a Crows Nest.

I used to do annual service on mobile phone towers and often found nests up there. Some were possibly eagle’s nests judging by what I’d been told from colleagues, though a lot were magpies or crows I’d reckon. Don’t know how a bird smaller than an eagle would get the sticks up there, considering how big some of them were.

The photo does not give much away. Without seeing the nest first hand or a better photo on a different angle I think it is more likely to the nest of a Australian Raven.
