As seen in Braddon.

The pretty blonde driving the Peugeot is also wearing a hat saying “Paris” just in case you didn’t get that she really, really digs Paris.

It just seems so unfair.

Or in Paris’s case, wasn’t going to get much. I hadn’t heard that she had been written out of the will.

Apparently, it’s her still breathing grandad that’s pulling her inheritance. It was reported he’s not to keen on his grandkids running the family name into the ground

Too late.

Pommy bastard4:27 pm 11 Dec 08

I admire her as an actor, her movie “The Hottie or the Nottie” was one of the highhlights of….sorry, sorry, I cannot go on, have to go dry my trousers…….

Actually, P1 and Berraboy68 were the perspicacious ones. But I’ll reply anyway.

‘Give her credit for manipulating what many of us today want a piece of’? Hell no. I won’t do that. Nor will I give Hitler credit for manipulating the German people through anti-semitism (yep, Godwin’s law in full effect here) or John Howard credit for manipulating Australian xenophobia to help win elections.

Obtaining power and money isn’t always a good thing. Personally, I’d argue that Paris Hilton has set back the cause of intelligent, self-empowered women.

She capitalised on her fame, and I think that society is all the worse for it. What is she famous for? What exactly has she done? Essentially, she’s famous for being famous.

Jim Jones said: (Paris)inherited huge piles of money and this makes her ‘an intelligent businesswoman’?

Then Dexi replied:

dexi said :

Yes it does Jim. She has developed her own brand name that is easily recognised. As demonstrated in this thread.

I say: Big bank accounts don’t equal brains Dexi. If it did she’d have stayed under her families radar, been a good girl and not been written out of the will. Then she’d have been far richer than is now the case. Paris is only a brand name due to the questionable habits of Gen Y and Z (and some others) who love to make ‘hero’s’ out of anybody who magazines or TV tell them to. If Paris weighed 28 stone, lived in Charny (OK maybe that’s too much of a stretch, lets say Spence instead) and drove a beat up old Falcon she’d probably still have the same capacity for intelligence. She’d just lack the ‘old money’ or contacts to indulge herself or attend parties where she would have been noticed in teh first place.

Popularity does not = intelligence.

tylersmayhem11:10 am 11 Dec 08

Indeed Dexi!

Much like Paris Hilton, I’m sure the owner knew what she was doing drawing attention to herself. 2CC and RA just played into her hands. She is just another self-promoter looking for attention. I think that is the purpose of personalised plates. “Look at me, look at me, Ive got lots of money to buy, look at me plates.”

So I suppose it’s time for me to get a numberplate that says ‘Dubbo’.

I apologise for the first post, and assuming that it related to Ms Hilton. While I am uncertain why anyone would like Paris the city either, I am much less critical of someone expressing this affection. Although, she might take the relies to this thread as an indication that her intention may be unclear to many people.

On the subject of Ms Hilton and her “good business sense”, the first I ever heard of her was when she came to the Melbourne Cup several years ago, and the media reported it more then the race. Next I heard was when her [cough] “home movie” came out. I suggest to you that if the whole “Paris” dumb blonde branding has been carefully constructed act, then the amount of money she has made through selling shit music, movies and TV shows makes her the most savvy business woman in the world. If, however, she has simply been given an enormous amount of capital in the form of her name, then built on that by being pretty (or not, depending on your opinion), and making home made porn (throw in DUI and jail for good measure), then I reserve the right to hate her. Remember though that I have never met her, am unlikely ever to, and so this is all acedemic. She might be very nice and not spoilt at all.

tylersmayhem9:36 am 11 Dec 08

Man…if I was Welshy I wouldn’t be admitting to knowing her! Maybe we can do an exchange program and just move her over there? I wonder if she speaks French, or has the capability to do so?

Gungahlin Al9:20 am 11 Dec 08

In one of those curious little coincidences, I picked up a leaflet this morning for the ABC’s Life magazine. It was headlined “Life is just too short to be reading about Britney and Paris”.

Amen to that. So here endeth my time on this thread! 🙂

She hasn’t inherited anything yet. You don’t inherit stuff until the owner of it dies. And Daddy Hilton is still extant.

Yes it does Jim. She has developed her own brand name that is easily recognised. As demonstrated in this thread.

Actually she didn’t inherit much more than the name.

In fact, it is usually inversely proportionate!

She’s certainly very good at turning celebrity into dollars.

Paris Hilton is a very smart and highly intelligent businesswoman. Any male who thinks she is an airhead should compare his bank balance with hers.

The big problem with Paris is there are too many Parisians there.

I think you have rather unwisely assumed that the arrangement was deliberate, or that they even knew what the Southern Cross was.

I always just assume it was accidental and settle for being amazed that they got the backing paper off, and were able to find the rear of the car.

I love pies, but I wouldn’t have a number plate that said “Pies”!

apparently there is a facebook site for those against frangipanis on cars. the concept of them arranged in a southern cross is, frankly, quite sick…

If the plates were red, white and blue, rather than pink, we possibly could have figured it out.

But I guess a Peugeot was also a hint.

Thanks for the free advertising Welshie.

execpt for the hat thing – I thought it was perhaps a bit more of a cute joke personalised plates present thing. You know she has blonde hair and is cute and tall and thin and her friends/family/bf think she’s a bit ‘Paris’ so they buy her the plates –
But you know what..who cares? One goofy woman in a hot car with dumb plates as opposed to a gazillion dip s hit blokes with the equivelant…
I know which one i prefer! lol…

Frangipani arrayed in a Southern Cross

God…I feel dizzy and sick right about now! Both those should be banned. And while I try not to hrmm…generalise too much – I think the people who have either of these sticker type on their car…really are the same types time and time again!

Maybe Paris is indeed her name, and the personalised plate and hat is so she can remember it.

I always thought the GB stickers were advisory to other drivers.

Like L equals “Learner” and P equals “Provisional”, I thought GB equalled “Getting Better”?

:-p

Or the true mark of the beast – Frangipani arrayed in a Southern Cross.

tylersmayhem3:47 pm 10 Dec 08

To be perfectly honest I’d rather see these stickers on cars than those damn frangipani stickers, or the Oakley stickers of old.

My thoughts exactly! Hrrmmm – we aren’t in Europe people! You can try and make Canberra as European as you like with your smart cars, high rise living, high prices and the rest – but it just looks pretentious IMHO.

I know a few people with (mostly) GB and D stickers on their cars. Their either owned by British ex-pats or a few in the old skool Volkswagen community. So, while in some cases it may be pretentious, in probably just as many there’s good reasoning to do so.

To be perfectly honest I’d rather see these stickers on cars than those damn frangipani stickers, or the Oakley stickers of old.

Ultimately though, there’s plenty of other things to worry about than the stickers people put on their cars. Although, almost without exception, I find people with Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond stickers on their car are complete wankers, haha.

I agree. She’s got that strange wonky eye and the long nose, no curves etc.

But I’m as ugly as a hat full of arseholes, so who am I to judge?

As my grand-daughter once explained to me:

“girls like paris hilton because she gets paid to be herself, she does nothing, contributes nothing, and still gets money. that appeals to some of my slutty classmates who will wind-up pregnant and abandoned wearing pink slippers at the mall whilst shopping at aldi before the year is out”

Ah… the sarcasm of youth!

Paris Hilton? Hot? Go get your eyes checked!

Whats sadder than the pic is people automatically assuming when they see the word ‘Paris’ that it has something to do with Paris Hilton…

Its probably some business related advertisement.

There is, indeed, no god. Why is she not desecrating a Hyundai? it’s not right. The thing is, the young and the tasteless have more money these days. Too much. We need a good war.

It’s good that she has decided to place warning on the front and back of her car for the general population. Now if only all the other airheads where so considerate.

The “celebrities” that people choose to idolise astound me.

Ms Hilton is one of the few people on TV who make me physically ill.
