This in from ACT Policing:

A 20-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this afternoon (Tuesday, December 14) on multiple charges after he crashed a stolen car into another vehicle, fled the scene, and was apprehended in the backyard of an Ainslie home with stolen property.

Police will allege that the man broke into an Ainslie home this morning around 2am and stole a number of items of jewellery, and a men’s bicycle.

Police will further allege that the same offender then rode the stolen bike to Campbell, where he broke into another residence and stole a number of items including a watch, two mobile phones, an Apple iPad and a quantity of alcohol. He also stole the keys to a black Mazda 3, and drove away in that vehicle.

Around 8.17am today, police sighted the vehicle driving in Ainslie and attempted to stop it. The driver attempted to evade police, who terminated their pursuit a short time later.

At 8.20am, police received a report that the stolen Mazda had collided with a vehicle in Davenport Street, Ainslie, with the driver immediately fleeing the scene on foot, carrying a bag. Police quickly attended that location and began a systematic search, locating the offender about 30 minutes later hiding in a backyard.

The man, who was sought on a First Instance Warrant, will be charged with a number of offences including two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, one count of take motor vehicle without consent, and reckless driving.

Police are seeking anyone who may have witnessed the nature of the man’s driving in the stolen black Mazda around the streets of Ainslie early today. Anyone who can provide this information, or any other which could assist the investigation, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

UPDATE: Thanks to readers who’ve pointed out that other media have noted this is the work of the infamous career criminal who, due to killing a girl in a stolen car when he was 15, has gained a magical cloak of anonymity under our ludicrous child protection laws and can only be known as “Clea Rose’s Killer”.

B___L_Y [“the thing you put plants in” (plural)] needs to be jailed indefinitely under a “3 strikes and you’re out” rule.

Instead, we have do-gooders running this state who are more interested in protecting the “human rights” of criminals, than to look after victims of crime. It is time to send a strong message to Simon Corbell and his senior bureaucrats, that this sort of thing is not on!!

I’m going to guess he is granted bail.

On the surface of it would appear the value of said bail would not be of concern

If I am correct, these latest crimes were allegedly committed while this guy was on bail, which had been granted after he committed offences while on bail. I’m going to guess he is granted bail.

This scumbag needs to go to gaol. Permanently. He has had how many chances? It’s time gaol was used as a tool to protect society from this animal.

OK……

Bastard ran a decent person on the town steps

Work it out for yourself.

If this article had been written as

“Brad Pitt was arrested for insane driving in Ainslie in a stolen car. etc etc”

With no reference to any crimes committed before ther age of 18, wouldn’t that be ok?

It’d be OK until any other media outlet went with the CRK tag, and no-one likes having to redact.

I saw some graffiti placed on an overpass on the Tuggeranong Parkway. It said:

CRK = Brad Pitt

Let’s see how long it takes to redact that.

Ok, I didn’t see this, but you know what I’m saying…

I see the CT reports that he crashed into a mother driving her 2 kids to school.

After the torment that Clea’s family have endured, losing her name to person that took her life I would like to see her given another legacy, the Clea Rose Law, whereby a piece of shit like this can be named when they continue to commit crimes as an adult.

+1 Great idea

Is it a matter of time before he accidentally murders someone again?

Let’s hope this is the last Christmas he spends behind bars. That can be interpreted 2 ways. I don’t have a problem with either way. Well, I guess turning a new leaf would be preferable to the more harsh solution.

So long as we don’t infringe on the criminal’s human rights.

Un-freaking-believable.

As someone who does know the name of this mouth breather, it is incredibly stupid that it cannot be shared with the rest of the ACT public. It is clear that this fool will continue to commit crimes, often whilst on good behaviour orders, parole, bail, bail for offences commited when on bail and under a good behaviour order and at any other time that suits him. Surely common sense will prevail and the ban on his name being revealed will be lifted.

I see the CT reports that he crashed into a mother driving her 2 kids to school.

Surely the ACT public is entitled to be kept safe from this low life piece of scum. Why does our safety and quality of life have to be compromised based on the personal decision of a magistrate who feels he should keep getting “second” chances.

If he gets another slap on the wrist this time what options do we have to say enough, we aren’t going to allow this to continually happen?

I was hoping someone might be able to name names before Clea Rose got a mention so as to get the name of the offender out there without any direct reference to pre-teen crimes.

As was asked in another post, if scumbag is named here with no reference to Clea would any offence have been committed. Then it just takes putting 2 and 2 together with the rest of the media reporting as CRK.

I think the situation that keeps this scumbags name out of the media is so far off its original intent it become ridiculous. Lets look at the potential damage that could result from releasing his name.

First of all there is the potential to bring pain and suffering to the family of the victim. Well quite frankly I couldn’t imagine how they could be suffering more than they already are, not only have they lost their daughter but are constantly reminded of their loss and the freedom of the perpetrator by constant references using their daughters name.

Second is the potential to tarnish the offender because of crimes they committed as a child when they should be given an opportunity to get on with their life as an adult. Well clearly this piece of shit, as an adult, has no concerns whatsoever with continuing to tarnish himself, so why should his name be hidden from the rest of society because he happened to commit his first offence before he turned 18.

After the torment that Clea’s family have endured, losing her name to person that took her life I would like to see her given another legacy, the Clea Rose Law, whereby a piece of shit like this can be named when they continue to commit crimes as an adult.

FYI we’re given to understand CRK’s parents are on the influential side of the tracks.

The Canberra Times has reported that the offender is none other than the lowlife who killed Clea Rose. What annoys me is that the media still cannot name this lowlife because of crimes he committed as a youth. How long will the embargo on naming this lowlife last for? Surely the community has a right to know the names of career criminals.

Like a pretty crappy game of GTA if he didn’t manage to run over a couple of hookers or policemen in the process.

So, as a result of pre-eighteen year old criminal deeds, resulting in a death, is this wretched person to remain nameless for the balance of his criminal career?

oh no – just read the story. sigh! here we go again

he stole “a men’s bicycle” – would that be a tandem then?
