It's not Monday! Time for some bad parking!

We may have kicked back over the long weekend, but bad parking never rests.

If you should see some bad parking while out and about, grab your camera and send some shots to images@the-riotact.com.

Be sure to include the word parking in the subject and let us know what name you’d like us to credit you with.

1. Krystjann is the first cab off the rank today:

This lady decided that she’s old and can park where she wants to.

The silver car to the left is mine and took 3 attempts to get out and all the time the owner of red car stood there watching me to make sure I didn’t hit her car.. If looks could kill, that’s all I can say.

Ergh...

2. Larryo follows up with this little number:

Childers Street next to the Street Theatre. Two cars parked on the exit/access area on Friday night locking another vehicle into a parking area which had four available spaces.

Yuck!

3. Matt gets a two hit combo!

Tsk tsk.

4. CC hid in a tree to get us this:

Parked in a No Stopping zone a good 20mins, no occupants in sight.

Nasty.

5. Bill is our NSW correspondent:

Canberra spread their bad parking further afield during the long weekend. The tiguan in the photo was sighted in Leura NSW. He parked in the stop those tourist shuttles use and went and coffee.

Exotic?

6. James spots some bad ‘stopping’:

Well not parking, more like stopping. This car stopped and sat there until the lights changed even though the vehicle behind it reversed to make space.

He's out there.

7. Martlark keeps it simple:

Belconnen markets, Sunday evening.

Got his thumb in there...

8. Piglet caught this stinker:

Jamison car park, so many free spots around but had to stuff this up!

Spacious

9. PPTVB closes this week’s chapter:

This gem is for the parking nazis and grammar nazis.
While it was in Young, NSW, (last Saturday), it is an A.C.T vehicle.

In their defence, the whole main street was parked this badly.

Wow...

I find there being many free spots makes it less serious. At least if you don’t want to park next to them, you don’t have to. Unlike that time when the only free park left when I got to work was too narrow to even get my small car into. In the other cars’ defence, the lines were covered by leaves.

I admit that once in every few dozen times I park I open my door and go “How the F did I manage to park that badly?!”. Most of the times I’ll close the door and straighten up. But if it’s unlikely to bother anyone – like in a mostly empty carpark – and I’m only ducking into the supermarket, I occasionally don’t bother.

Couldn’t give a stuff if my car appeared on these pages in that event either. A bad park is a bad park. It’s just not the end of the world, so I rarely look at these.

I will however try to take some photos for next week of an illegal parking situation that truly does get to me. TBC.

I admit to reversing back and getting just that little bit further inside the lines the other day, which I probably would not have bothered doing if not for these threads. So they have improved the quality of our fair city a measurable, if minute amount.

I was of course, constrained in my parking by the luxobarge infringing on my space.

Every Monday! It drives me wild to see this post. A bad parking witch-hunt. Yes we all see poor parking, but I would argue that at least 90% of the vigilante photographers would have a one point or another parked poorly due to necessity, and who knows if they parked for 5mins or 5hours (and would hate for their car to be highlighted to the whole of Canberra). Every time I see this post I think for gods sake get a life! Honestly what type of person goes out of their way to photograph peoples cars to post in the riot-act. It’s really not your problem. That’s what parking inspectors are paid for!

Personally I am more aware of how I park because I don’t want to end up on here… but then I again I didn’t park badly before… sooo not really worried.

Purposely parking badly or illeagally should be shamed. Parking opposite a T intersection (twice this weekend) , in front of emergency access paths (not since the picture appeared on here) and or not in parking in the lines at best renders other spots unuseable, inbetween is risky for people other people driving and could cost someone severe injury or their life.

I do love it when JB has a good snarl. (So long as he never does it at me…)

The thing is, non turd based humans don’t park if they can’t get between the lines.

We go further and walk in on our legs because we don’t have a howling sense of entitlement and some consideration for our fellow human beings.

So excuse us if we enjoy having a laugh at the scum who afflict our society.

Spotto your user name!

Beat me to it, haha.

I heard the Whaaaaambulance double parked Yellow in his/her/its driveway the other day.

Hehe I come for the parking and overstay for the mocking.

I’m angry because I park badly and you are shaming me.

I love this thread each week.

What I’d love more is if parking inspectors could book the majority of these people from the photos.

Is someone feeling a little self conscious?? Which one is you? hahaha!

#1 I am not sure what is worse, the red car with one wheel on the line or the fact the driver of the silver car took 3 goes to get out, when the picture clearly shows a straight reverse would do.

As for #7 they must have spent a lot of time there as I parked next to them about 1pm on Saturday. What I did though was parked in the centre of my spot not to the right like the Honda did. By parking in the centre they had no chance of getting into their car. I was only going to be 5 minutes so thought it may teach a lesson but of course I was back before them.

Viewing Monday parking is not compulsory!!! A couple of posters have indicated that it is their problem when someone else can’t park in a law abiding manner. I take extra care not to view child care posts for eg because I have no kids. Same goes for school related posts for the same reason.
Live and let live…

Check out the No Stopping zones outside Sirius Building (Woden) any afternoon…. Adds an exciting flavour to the pedestrian crossings for pedestriand AND drivers

Good thing it’s in a 40 zone or there might be real trouble.

Um, no that’s 50, the 40 zone ends just below Furzer St. Insane given how cars go in/out the Furzer St parking looking for a spot. It would have been so much simpler if all the Woden internal roads were 40.

#8… What sort of funny looking car is that?

Sure, take the low hanging fruit.

Incorrect capitalisation, missing / improper punctuation (no full-stop after ‘Commodores’. poor use of hyphen). Also, the ‘go’ is superfluous.
