We heard a whisper last month but now World Cup Web reports that the best and toughest coach in world rugby, Jake White, is in talks with the Brumbies for next season.

Former South Africa coach Jake White has been linked with the Brumbies for next season as a replacement for Andy Friend.

Friend was sacked last week by the Brumbies and replaced for this season by Tony Rae.

White has worked with the Brumbies in the past is said to have expressed an interest in moving to Canberra to coach the former Super rugby champions.

Note to Brumbies:

Do this. Make it happen. And then leave him to do what he will with the team. Do not get involved in any way with football operations. If a few marquee players can’t hack it let them go and spend the money on the youth talent White sees fitting into his plan.

Please.

Canberra Times this morning has a pretty detailed article confirming that Jake White is a contender (among 20 others) for the 2012 coaching gig with the Brumbies.

I can’t tell you how much I hope someone there (ie. the whole board) comes to their senses and gives him the job with a carte blanche authority to fix the team properly. Maybe he’s someone the players will actually listen to given his track record and inclination not to take any crap.

damn, for a minute I thought you said ‘Jack White’

Me too, and I got so excited!

The first thing Jack would do is change the uniforms – candy shop red and white.

I was reaching for my credit card to pay for the tix before they were sold out. 🙁

If this happens I might just renew my membership at the end of the year.

+1 bring it (him)!!!

An international coach, used to working within a highly political environment, sounds like the perfect person for the job.

This will be good for the brumbies, especially the younger players. Pity we can’t get him here tommorrow. Brumbies have of course denied any talks so far.

One has to think that Jake’s job will be made easier with the departure of Mat “I AM a flyhalf” Giteau.

+1 – Brumbies – sitdown shuttup and listen! This is really good news, you may get some followers coming back.
