Jake White still not making any sense

The Canberra Times has a lengthy article devoted to shock departure Jake White’s reasons for quitting the Brumbies halfway through his contract and taking up with another team in the same competition.

‘‘The bottom line is I just wanted to move on. Families allow family members to move on. It happens. A lot of the guys I’ve spoken to, they all understand why it had to happen.

‘‘I told [the Brumbies] I was feeling disillusioned with where my career was going in Australia. And who says I can’t coach Australia after the World Cup? I’ve not turned my back on Australia.

“I don’t feel guilty at all about wanting to chase an international dream, players do it all the time.’’

I am not at all convinced by his excuses or reasoning.

But if he’s done the best thing for himself and he can sleep at night I guess we just have to move on.

Families are less keen about family members leaving for other families.

Depends on the family member. And and the family. And his member.

It’s pretty clear Jake left because he wanted to go back home to South Africa. For some reason, he seems to be having trouble admitting that. It’s like he’s embarrassed about it.

I still refuse to get butt hurt over his departure. As far as I’m concerned, he left the Brumbies in tremendous shape. We’ll be very much in the hunt again in 2014.

“Families allow families to move on”? But aren’t you ostensibly moving back for your familiy?

In what way is releasing yourself from an Australian contract with an Australian team “chasing an international dream”? Does he think he’s more likely to be selected as the Wallabies coach after this dummy spit?
