James Hird is probably the most respected product of Canberra on the national stage.

So it’s sad to see the latest 7.30 Report piece on the unfolding scandal on his watch at the Essendon Football club.

It’s a long way from catching yabbies in the creek at Latham.

We’re talking about a man who rated a mention in a TISM song fer chrissakes.

James who? When I saw the last name I thought you were referring to Harold Hird, long-time member of the ACT Advisory Council pre-self government and the first Legislative Assembly. Now you tell me this James Hird is involved with the AFL and a former Canberran. Are they related?

Haha not wrong there and wasn’t Alex ‘jezza’ Jesaulenko a prima donna.Back in the early nineties he rings for a cab from his Red Hill home and who should get the honour? He gets in the car smoking a cigar and I tell him to put it out coz I had no intention driving him to Eastlakes footy club until he did.Didn’t he chuck a wobbly, nonetheless I stood my ground and he eventually put it out and had a whinge for several minutes until we got to the club. The funny thing was that when we got to Eastlakes he gave me a $3 tip,go figure?

Yeah, but what a mark!!!!

You’ll be pleased that he gets a mention in a TISM song too:

Each time I hear his name in the media I think of that song. Kinda funny really, since when that song was first out I had to Google Alta Vista search to find out who he was.

I guess that makes me a wanker.

Pfft, he’s not even the best Aussie Rules footballer from Canberra. As evidenced by the fact he hasn’t even done a Canberra Milk ad!

Aside from that, I hope Hird’s reputation rots in hell.
