Many of us shed a tear when JB Hi-Fi took over Impact Records in the bus interchange. Now that too has moved on.

They seem very confident the Canberra Centre expansion will be done real soon now.

With the Library also moving out of that building does anyone know its fate?

Smartest idea I’ve read today, KandyA.

a tunnel should be constructed under East row, and the roof knocked off this building, which could then be connected to the Phoenix, to serve as its beer garden. I think its in the public interest, and expect to see progress very soon

… and at least Borders allows you to listen to a sample of a CD before buying it. Not like JB – “we don’t have listening facilities”!!

Borders should be reasonably up market and pretty good. Apparently there’ll be proper restaurants in the dendy end as well.

The new expansion seems to be a lot more downmarket than the first expansion (the “over Bunda Street” bit) – Big W’s one of the first places opening in it.

Not saying that downmarket is a bad thing, necessarily. Just different.

No one wants to rent in that building because the landlord charges too much. They are unreasonable and arrogant.

> personally I’d love to see “Impact – The Bar” in there.

“Impact – The Bar” may just be a reality..stay tuned. Probably not where JBs is now though, perhaps another old Impact location. 🙂

Cheers for the info Bighead. Thank God Teds are moving – I hate that little basement shop they have. Could it be that with JB and Teds they will actually have some USEFUL shops in the new expansion rather than another collection of women’s ‘fashion’ shops / shonky mobile retailers and those pretentious jewellers shops?

November 2nd seems to be the day, I know 2 places that are opening now. Teds Cameras and JB.

johnboy, i would invest in that if they sold records too.

personally I’d love to see “Impact – The Bar” in there.

Maybe the scientologists across the street could expand into this extra space….
