Jerky anyone?

I did try to search for “jerky” at T-Ra, but maybe not surprisingly I came up with TV reception, taxi’s and a popular drinking dive for the toff’s around Kingston.

What I’d love to know about is decent places to buy beef jerky?

The “old” Civic shopping centre used to have a butcher near the Supabarn that had good jerky but that was a while ago. Any tips as to where you can good dead animal highly salted would be appreciated.

Perky Jerky 100% best ever.

I get Ol Pete’s by mail order. Excellent service from Maitland in NSW. Territory Jerky rocks, might try that by mail order next.
Jordo’s is great but there’s a butcher at Chisholm shops as well who makes great jerky.

Costco. Seriously.

12 months ago, I would have agreed with you – the “Hot and Spicy” jerky was awesome. It was much drier and more chewy – just the way I like. 12 months on, the jerky is soggy and less chewy. I buy it intermittently, hoping to get some of the chewy stuff but continue to be disappointed.

Territory Jerky used to be the Australian jerky by which all others were measured. I have not seen any around for years. You used to see packets of it behing the bar at classy drinking establishments such as the Chisholm Tav, Irish Club, Woden Tradies etc, but I have not seen it around for years.

Not a Canberra business but a great Australian provider which I can highly recommend – Biltong2Go http://biltong2go.com.au/ for Biltong and spicy stokkies. The price is very reasonable and they often have specials.

Prob not what you’re looking for but I love the Korean BBQ jerky you can buy at Costco

+1

I picked up the jerky habit working in the US. The Costco stuff is pretty damn good for a commercial product.

Schedule of prices? 😛

Horse jerky? Are you French?

You want a jerky? I would suggest Mustang Ranch at Fyshwick.

Can’t beat the Bulgogi jerky from Costco, I’d live on it if I could. They also have other varieties.

No, quite stable, but thanks for asking.

Easily the best place in Canberra is Jordo’s Chop shop. They are down in Wanniassa but have a really good website and delivery service

I should say I am in no way affiliated with Jordo’s, just terribly addicted to the jerky.

I’ve been trying to get down there to buy some stuff but have found, they don’t open on Saturdays and the last 2 weeks of December they weren’t selling anything, besides clearance stock or stuff that was pre-ordered…

I guess I will have to wait till the new year to head down there again.

Pretty sure the Griffith Butchery does it, but also have tried it at Costco when they have the food stands out, however this version does come in a packet as opposed to made on the premises. Not a jerky officionado but tasted alright to me.

The organic butchers at Belco markets has some decent jerky

Someone sells it at the Old Bus Depot Markets. Markets reopen on 13 Jan.
