Now I want a curry……well it is lunch time….why not?

We went to the Jewel and unfortunately so did the Indian cricket team so of course even though they arrived well after us they had eaten and left before we were fed – the 2 hour wait was excrutiating, even for the Bunny!

Thanks everyone – the Jewel it is, after the cricket turbinates tommorrow ……

I made a recommendation, but it’s disappeared – I blame IT issues at my end.

Short form was go to Jewel, and make sure you order the black dhaal. Ruchi have changed their naan and it’s a bit more charcoal than bread recently.

And apologise for all they’ve done to Pakistan!

Neither, I am boycotting Indian food.

Thanks Mælinar – I am going with a group, so not sure what the favourites are. My own favourites are the vegetable dishes -eg bahji, sabzi and the tandoori breads

Mmm Kingfisher…

I remember circa 2005 in India 75 cent kingfisher longnecks – 35 cent conterfeit malboro cigarettes – was a blast….

bunnycoat – I’ve dined extensively at both locations. The easiest way of recommending one over the other would be to find out what dish is your favourite, and I could tell you which I would go to for that dish.

The place in Phillip (Colbee Court) is Indian Affair.

Run by Gary Singh and wife (Surinder?), who used to give us discounts on good lunchtime food, and dinner if we brought guests along.

I second Kitchen of India in Ngunnawal, it is very good…

Here’s Mælinar’s infamous Jewel of India vs Ruchi reviews…
Vindaloo
Butter Chicken

high fives to you spectra

!

I went to the Indian in Phillip industrial area (name eludes me) the other night and the food was really good – in fact we were lucky to get a table for 2. Only got in cause we were early.

S4anta: Here it is. Google has a nifty feature where if you append “site:the-riotact.com” to the end of your search, it will just search that site. It’s frankly better and faster than almost every site’s local search, especially the ACT govt’s one.

bunnycoat,
I believe maelinar did a review of both of these places a while back. Now, if only the search function on RA would work so i could link to it…

Neither. Kitchen of India in the Platypus Centre, Ngunnawal. Great food, although, the last time I ordered from there they were quite rude. I’ll let it slip since all other times their service has been outstanding.

I would have thought that would depend entirely on what your favorite indian dish is, I’m sure each restaurant has its specialties that it does better than the other.
