Are you aged 20 or over? Have a hankering to travel to such exotic locales as DFO Canberra? Would you like to join the Secret Cabal that apparently sabotages worthy attempts to build a Light Rail? Yes, you too could be an ACTION bus driver!

Applications opened at jobs.act.gov.au on the 13th of November and close on December 2nd. There’s an information night tonight:

Date: Tuesday 18th November 2008
Venue: Pilgrim House, 69 Northbourne Avenue, Canberra City (Entrance from rear courtyard)
Time: 7pm – 8pm
The ACTION driver recruitment and training process will be covered in detail including bus driver licensing requirements.

I can be quite a cranky prick on here, I’m sure JB can confirm that. Maybe I should apply – I seem to have two thirds of the skill required it would seem??

Or a Tasmanian.

I applied for action about 3 months ago and got knocked back
They say they don’t hire people that weigh over 120 kg’s I do weigh over 120 kg’s but that has not stopped me being a truck driver for the last 10 years
Personally I think that discrimination

Yes, well I am looking for a job. It will help me pay the now $10,000 for the car I smashed up. Do you all feel afraid yet?

; )

Granny – I see quite a number of female bus drivers so I’m sure they would overlook your brown beard…

The grey beard rules me out too. Mine is still brown.

I can’t join as I’m not overweight, have a grey beard or like to wear shorts with socks pulled up to my knees.

A mate of mine gave up an EL1 position in the APS to become a bus driver. He reckons it’s the best decision he ever made (i.e it’s a great way to meet women).

Personally, I gave up riding on buses when the bloke in front of me coming home one night kicked a women on the other side of the isle while he was sniffing glue. I don’t particularly want a job where the passengers have more rights than the driver, who apparently can’t kick idiots off buses any more and can’t refuse to give someone a ride if they don’t have the fare. Sheesh.

… you could drive people around the bend if you’re not careful!

As long as you don’t get tickets on yourself ….

I could use the change..boom tish!

Being a bus driver allows you to go places.

The bus driver I was chatting to said it was the best job he’d ever had.

It’s dangerous being on the buses

Look what happened to Reg Varney

mother. I mean Mother

Did he meet the bother on the buses too?
