Jon Stanhope's wikipedia entry

It’s a funny thing when you think to look up a person’s wiki entry.

Take our beloved Jon Stanhope for example.

We wonder why anyone needs to spread such scurrilous rumours about the Chief Minister when he gives so much of substance with which to work. Putting the “Stanhopeless” tag into his name was particularly nasty.

I would like to make it clear that I was in no way involved in the production of this entry.

Let the revert wars begin!

Let’s just say it was a lot more colourful before i drew attention to it.

Well, it’s (mostly) true – he definately did jump into a dam to rescue a pilot who’d crashed.

Although you might be excused for over-exagerating his heroism – from memory he was assisted by other people from his chopper, and he didn’t leap from the chopper while it was hovering over the dam, he got out once it had hit the ground.

But there were a few photos of Stanhope in his undies doing the He-Man rescue thing.

What is the story behind this entry?

“Stanhope had made headlines in the week before the bushfires hit Canberra when he personally jumped from a helicopter into a dam to save the pilot of another helicopter which had crashed into the water. “

Already been reverted – the tag says “revert: Unverifiable Slander”.

You’ve got to give the wiki-team something – they’re pretty quick these days.
