The Raiders have let it be known that Josh Dugan and Blake Ferguson won’t be playing for the side this weekend:

The Canberra Raiders have stood down players Josh Dugan and Blake Ferguson indefinitely, for breaching a number of team policies.

Both Dugan and Ferguson will remain stood down until the incident has been fully investigated by the club and an appropriate punishment has been determined.

They need some internal punishment where his salary is cut, he’s forced to train but isn’t elligible to play.

So a return to slavery then?

As much as I wanted to see him gone, he clearly wanted to leave too (judging by him failing to show up today). That’s exactly what he got, and now he’ll be quickly snapped up by another club, live a lifestyle on the beach somewhere, and if history repeats probably win the Dally M next year.

Dugan’s been sacked.

Good. He’s a d***head.

Dugan’s been sacked.

Good old Dugan. Typical gen Y Bogan. Self indulgent, disrespectful with a victim mentality. The sooner the Raiders get rid of him, the better

Rumour has it the Raiders are ready to dump Dugan. If that’s the case, then the Dragons are the front runners to sign him. If the NRL doesn’t de-register him and he does sign with the Dragons, then it’s possible he could be running out for them against the Raiders for their first home game at Canberra Stadium on the 24th.

There is no reason for the NRL to de-register him as he hasn’t done anything wrong except break team rules. If it were numerous criminal matters that’d be a different story.

There will always be a coach who thinks he can be turned around, and until he becomes and man and realises he is his own worst enemy another club will always be willing to pick him up.

Life lesson for Josh Dugan? Doesn’t matter what I do, someone will still throw a couple of hundred thousand at me until I’m 33.

Good result for Dugan, time off for a few more beers and trips to the tattoo parlour for more scribbles on his beloved body.

Making his own luck indeed.

Wait – I know how this one plays out. Dugan gets dumped by the Raiders and has the season of his life for the Roosters next year. The Daily Tele reports it as the good news story of the year…
