Labor Member for Brindabella Joy Burch expects the Legislative Assembly to pass a motion condemning Liberal MLA Zed Seselja’s shift to the senate.

Strong words from Burch, but she’s in a good position to criticise Zed as she gave some people a pool already.

In case you missed the pool related news story from this morning.

Joy Burch had this to say:

“When Mr Seselja switched electorates to contest the electorate of Brindabella he claimed it was to better serve the people of Tuggeranong, but we now know it was just another example of Mr Seselja doing and saying whatever it takes to further his own ambitions.”

Here’s a poll we ran on the subject back on the 12th.

And your proof that Zed is spending his time away from his current job is?
The election campaign isn’t even close to starting, for what reason shouldn’t he be able to continue in his position until a few months before the federal elction?

There isn’t any concrete reason, really, but people are still entitled to think of him as an opportunistic power-grabber. Especially seeing as that’s how he seems to like presenting himself.

Well yes, he is a politician after all.

Opportunistic power grabber? That’s pretty sweet, but Thumper has the inside running at the moment.

Joy Burch, the woman that visited Bimberi to hear staff concerns about bullying and then stuck her fingers in her ears and sang, ‘la la la la.’

Zed might be a nasty back stabbing opportunist but he was voted in and so there is no reason for him to leave if he continues to do his job.

Nasty back stabbing opportunist, eh?

Nice work there mate, but I think you’ve being a bit too kind. 🙂

I don’t blame the Government for condemning his position (though I’m opposed to frivolous motions which ‘condemn’) as it’s impossible to not perceive of everything that Zed does now as not campaigning for the Senate. He puts out a media release about a pool in Lanyon – thus campaigning for Lanyonite votes .. he works himself into a sweat about bus time-tables – thus campaigning for the public transport commuter vote.

He shouldn’t be able to do this on the public dime .. it just highlights how shamelessly self-serving he really is.

I can’t see my current employer paying my salary when I’m busy spending all my time trying to get a job elsewhere. At some point my employer will want me to actually do some work for my employer.

Have to question, too, whether this means the Labor MLAs are going to restrict themselves from helping their federal colleagues on the campaign trail.

Nice to see this is the foremost matter of importance in the Government’s mind.

News this afternoon that Gary will re-contest the pre-selection if the original vote is overturned due to shenanigans. Apparently a meeting tonight or in the next couple of dat to determine.

Now that would be interesting….what will Zed do if his Pre-selection is cancelled. I’d love to see this happen.

I do agree that the Government should stop looking over their shoulders though. Joy Burch has nothing else to talk about obviously.

While not a fan of Zed staying in the Assembly while running for the senate, I’m also disturbed to see the Government trying to dictate the conduct of its opposition.
