Great to see a site where all the under worked Canberians can waste more time (damn i miss
Canberra)So I was reading the blog on crime and Watson, just a few trivial facts I know about out cri in al system and how we treat them.Wagga has a juvenile detention centre and oh boy have I learned a bit from this place, did you know if you commit a crime b4 u are 18 then when you turn 18 they don’t move them to big boys prison oh no they get to stay on till there 21. So the young 11 year old criminal gets to hang out with the 20 year old criminal, wonder what he will learn.I also like there in ground pool and the special things they get like riding on quad bikes as a treat for being well behaved criminals.Oh and not to mention there family whom come to visit from out of town and who foots the bill yes yes u guessed it the tax payer, while the family’s are here they get drunk, drugged out fight steal and mame. Then there’s our jail system where while the family’s visit there’s a nice big well maintained play area for the criminals kids and here is where the seed is planted, these youngens start to think well what a cool place i cant wait to visit Dad we get to play and get cold drinks and a free lunch…….. We love jail. Then there’s our local law enforcment, these guys are great considering the lack of them, but lets face it break and enters stolen cars graffiti noise pollution…………none of these raise revenue but speed cameras and highway patrol men now they raise revenue and lots of it.Climbs down from soap box. ZERO TOLERANCE says I

Interesting little discussion going on here.

Funny how people seem to think they have an illusion of control once they get behind the wheel of a car. So much so they regular break the speed limits and even reduce their ability to respond to critical incidents by consuming alcohol or other substances.

I would have thought that outside of the big medical causes of death e.g. Heart attack, cancer, and so forth. Driving related death would be the next biggest killer in Australia.

Does this stop people from doing foolish behaviour on our roads? I would say not looking at this thread and that people want to have more freedom to drive in a reckless manner.

I have always been a fan of this discussion forum and welcome debate especially from some members who have a different opinion then mine.

What can be done to reduce the incidents of traffic related injuries and death?

Deadmandrinking4:18 pm 09 Jan 08

Umm…when have I ever said that people should not be fined for driving offenses?

1) Guy drink drives, makes too wide a turn, ploughs straight into a family car and kills a few kids.

2) Woman speeding along a country-road, hits and school-bus going the other way, is killed instantly as the car and herself tears apart, leaving behind two children and a widower, not to mention a traumatized bus-driver.

Number 2 actually did happen. I remember seeing the aftermath (after they had cleared the body) and I will never forget it. I always wonder what would have happened had she been pulled over, given a fine and then chose to stay under the speed-limit to avoid another one.

If people are making it to the courts for burglary and getting let off….umm….does that mean they aren’t being arrested? Do they just show up or something?

Maelinar, I’d like to know where you’re drawing your assertion that a lot of people on the missing persons lists are burglars that have been murdered by their victims. Are we talking reality here, or is this just another trip into your midly disturbing, mostly lame fantasy world?

Hence open wonderment at how many of these people instead make it to the various missing persons lists.

DMD reminds me a lot of Big Al. Not particularly consistent across the board but always argumentative on any topic.

Burglaries have a much wider reach than you might think as to their impact on people then just be oh it property therefore it doesn’t matter. I will give you two examples:

1 – Sh*tbag breaks into house. Old guy comes home and for his troubles gets both his arms broken – started off as a harmless break and enter.

2 – Sh%tbags break into house take all sorts of stuff. Female victim is so stressed by this she has a late miscarriage.

You never hear about the people who don’t feel safe in their own homes after they get broken into. ffs it is supposed to be a serious offence carrying max penalty of 14 years, but as soon as you have a drug habit it seems to be a normal day at work.

Okay…metal slug. But that’s an exception. Dance dance is bad, horrible, evil and painful. It’s stupid, makes you look like a twit and is far from actual dancing.

If you are speeding or driving dangerously

I agree with Deadmandrinking’s assertion that speeding and driving dangerously are quite distinct.

However, I wholeheartedly disagree that Dance Dance Revolution is not appropriate at home. That goes double for Metal Slug.

Special Ed – I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. And I expect that’s an experience I share with you …

That said, DeadManDrinking makes some sensible points, which is more than could be said for Special Ed. Back to the Remedial Humanity class for you.

Deadmandrinking7:44 pm 07 Jan 08

You said it exactly the same time as I said ‘who the f-k agrees with me?’

No body except vice pope agrees with DMD haven’t you worked that out yet. He’s on his own on fantasy island.

WordPress is trying to tell me I’ve already said these things. hamm interesting – at least I’m consistent.

Deadmandrinking7:41 pm 07 Jan 08

You’re not invited to fantasy island, Special G

Deadmandrinking7:40 pm 07 Jan 08

And furthermore, when the f-k does anyone agree with me on Riot-Act?

No body except vice pope agrees with DMD haven’t you worked that out yet. He’s on his own on fantasy island.

Yeah, don’t crapitulate, dienewk.

Show some fight, man!

Deadmandrinking5:39 pm 07 Jan 08

Umm…you’re quite welcome to disagree dienewk. That’s called having a debate, which is what this site is about.

My apologies for the absence of grammar in my post ladies and gentleman, I was not made aware that such fine folk as you had rules and regulations on posts.

I will endeavor to keep my grammar and spelling in line and up to the standard that all the hard working, sophisticated Canberra residents would expect to find on such an informative site as this.

I also do apologies for my opinions I have since realised I should keep them to myself and just agree with every thing that deadmandrinking should post as it would seem the safer alternative to having my ass reamed, my apologies also extend to those that where offended I wasn’t aware that there where so many ex-juvenile-prison guards who especially enjoyed shower supervision tasks.

I would also like to thank you for all feedback, positive and negative, I will take this onboard and try to further my education so on my next return trip to this wonderful website I may post something that will be worthy of no comment at all.

bah punctuation who needs it seriously it just like those guys that care a bit too much about shit that we dont care about if you get my grip which is ultimately a grip of doom used mostly for the eradication of rodents and evil robot ninjas that like to point out the obvious whilst in middle of a buthane binge that has been going for hours and hours and hours but noone has told to us to stop so we just keep going until there is none left and that proves how hard we are although we are not so hard as to break into cars or commit heinous crimes because deep down we are really nice people that just don’t fit anymore kind of like my jeans from 3 years ago which were stylish once but are out of fashion and are way too tight and they make me look like some kind overweight wanna be popstar that writes on those blogs where no actually posts because the person is completely talentless and has no grip on society or the values of the people of this fine planet just like those who don’t value decent punctuation.

Deadmandrinking3:12 pm 07 Jan 08

Dude…did you just sat copyright? On the internet? Man, that’s a faux pas right there.

el ......VNBerlinaV83:00 pm 07 Jan 08

Not to mention the copyright implications DMD…

Deadmandrinking2:54 pm 07 Jan 08

“while the family’s are here they get drunk, drugged out fight steal and mame”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAME

Those evil, evil bastards. Dance Dance Revolution is not appropriate at home!

Skidbladnir does not give this one any skid marks, thankyou.

Its hard to get past the lack of formatting, terrible spelling, worse grammar, and bizarre method of delivery on this one. 😐

el ......VNBerlinaV89:01 pm 06 Jan 08

Grasby?

no marks, but skid marks, hasdrubahl. no joyce in this post, not joy. and definitely not on any road nor fear – just loathing!

(though i did sort of dig his ‘cri in al’ but wondered who ‘al’ was…)

I disagree with most of you. The post was a brave attempt at an adaptation of the ‘stream of consciousness’ literary technique. I see shades of James Joyce, jack Kerouac and even Hunter S Thomson in there.

Unfortunately another literary convention, the ‘stream of crap’, prevailed on this occasion. But give the loon marks for trying.

um, and apart from a reference to ‘canberians’ [huh?] what is the local content? a wagga squared holiday camp travelogue (i’ll let slip any other english massacre references given the poor lad/lass has spent so much time at ‘camp’) doesn’t seem to be very ACT-oriented. mebbe s/he is here as a summer gnat?

I personally think it’s great that the RiotAct admins filter us through some funny posts now and then. And everyone’s comments just add to the hilarity of it.

el ......VNBerlinaV82:03 am 06 Jan 08

I’m stoked that this barely coherant rubbish was deemed worthy of it’s own article.

I guess it goes to show RiotAct is definitely an equal opportunity site – allowing illiterates to post n’ all that.

Uhh, what the hell did this guy say?

Txtspeak is made for people who have to use phones which have a small amount of keys. So it’s acceptable there because it’s made for that. But it’s kinda weird when people use it on computers, they designed keyboards for people to type out full sentences, so use it for that.

In closing, “English m****rf****r, do you speak it?” – Pulp Fiction.

Why did this horribly written post make it to the front page?

Also, how dare this twit say something like “Great to see a site where all the under worked Canberians can waste more time”.

Obviously when this fool lived/worked in Canberra he was a lazy twat who got mugged by some 10 year olds!

Muppet. Single issue poster who will never return. Maybe he should just go to a party at Pottsy’s house in ‘Old’ Red Hill.

If bad grammar was punishable by imprisonment, then Dienewk would definitely be put in prison. But it’s all good because it’s just like a holiday resort in there hey??

Oops, I’m looking at RiotACT on a Saturday!. I should have left it until I got to work because I’m such an underworked Canberran. You know we all sit around and twiddle our thumbs all day Monday to Friday. Puhleeeez…

Mash – No to both

Deadmandrinking10:06 pm 05 Jan 08

Oh, sorry, which reality were you wanting? The one where you get punished for endangering life, or the one where no-one ever dies in road accidents?

DMD once again assuring us that he has a tenuous grip on reality.

Dienewk – Good content – work on the presentation

Dienewk. Have you any concept of the English language? Your post was awful.

Does anyone check these posts?

I think I agree with what Dienewk is saying – but I can’t be sure…

Deadmandrinking9:30 pm 05 Jan 08

Okay, read that twice and I think I got it.

So…being locked up all day, away from your family for most of the time and not seeing your friends on the outside is like a holiday camp? Well, it is kind of like a holiday camp, but I always hated f-king holiday camps and I would deplore being in one for any longer than a few days.

The fact is, these kids are locked up. They are restricted to one area 24/7. They cannot go to town with their friends. They cannot go and mingle with members of the opposite sex (which is living hell for most teenagers). They are watched by guards all day. It’s a punishment. To make conditions in juvenile prisons worse wouldn’t be punishing them. It would be neglecting them.

That being said, I do agree that it is wrong for people over the age of 18 to remain in juvenile detention centers. You don’t want the young-un’s mixing with older, more hardened criminals.

And with the ‘revenue-raising’ argument – grow up! This argument is mostly used by people who don’t want to take responsibility for their own misdeeds , yet complain about everyone else who doesn’t.
Just because you get caught for endangering other motorist’s lives on the road because there was a cop in the next lane, it doesn’t mean everyone is out to get you. What do you want them to do? Not bother pulling over dangerous drivers at all? Watch the road toll rise!

Burglars are a lot harder to catch. Investigations must be undertaken, property must be identified, offenders must be located. Dangerous driving, however, is much easier – especially when it’s done right in front of a cop. If you’re speeding or driving dangerously in front of a cop, you deserve to be caught. If you are speeding or driving dangerously, you are endangering LIVES not property. Big difference.

One word. Batman.
