This new story in the local news section is a tad less informative than usual.

Any ideas?

I feel embarrassed when reading the paper at the thought that someone from interstate might read it and confirm their worst fears about this city and its residents.

Ironically, you must read it at least occasionally. Most of the genuinely rabid greenies, the climate change brigaders I know wouldn’t pay to read the dead tree version of a paper, and the CT’s online version is worse than the paper one, so they are unlikely to do that.

I believe it is in celebration of Throne Day.

Throne Day indeed. The only use for The Canberra Times is hanging it up next to the throne. It’s useless for anything else. It is by far the worst newspaper in Australia pandering to a dwindling band of greenie, anal retentive public servants who only listen to – and watch – the ABC. The “news” it carries is either stale or wildly inaccurate. The public has deserted its classified ads section with http://www.allclassifieds.com.au and http://www.allhomes.com.au taking over the role. The only section which is still doing well are the death and funeral notices. The letters page has been hijacked by animal liberationists, rabid greenies, the climate change brigade and other assorted nutters and eccentrics. I feel embarrassed when reading the paper at the thought that someone from interstate might read it and confirm their worst fears about this city and its residents. Their circulation has been in terminal decline for a while and I confidently predict it will close down within the next five years.

is it throne day already? damn, so i totally missed thorne day…

I believe it is in celebration of Throne Day.

I guess the thousand monkeys on a thousand typewriters will, occasionally, not write text masquerading as a news story.

Actually, I think its reflects the normal level of journalism that CT normally provides. Certainly it has just has much detail.

I’d say its the most informative (and unbiased) article to come out of the Canberra Times

coded signal to spies maybe?
