Justice Refshauge cocks up sentencing Liang Zhao sentence

By johnboy - 15 October 2013 1

The ABC has the depressing news that the sentence of the un-named teenage killer of Liang Zhao on Northbourne Avenue has been further reduced:

Last week in the ACT Supreme Court, Justice Richard Refshauge sentenced the 19-year-old offender to 17 years in jail.

But because he was a juvenile at the time of the murder he was restricted in the way the sentence could be structured.

Justice Refshauge sentenced the man to 10 years and six months in custody with a good behaviour order of six-and-a-half-years on his releae.

The 19-year-old man was back in court today to argue that technically a good behaviour order could only last as long as three years.

Justice Refshauge apologised and re-sentenced him to a reduced three year order.
