ACTEW are proudly announcing that they’re on track to build a viewing platform (and a trail to it) by August so we can go see the huge new structure being built.
But just as nice is the YouTube channel they’re running so we can see the big toys at work.
Nice!
What’s Your opinion?

i work in the mining industry, yes and i have done some explosives training. But no i’m not an explosives expert, but i do know what fly rock is.
“Ummmm, no it wasn’t mate. There was fly-rock from multiple holes.”
Davo,
So you’d be in the industry in charge of similar work would you, mate?
Dunno about anyone else, but I reckon a huge new dam is going to be seriously cool.
voiceover – “That was really, really well controlled”
Ummmm, no it wasn’t mate. There was fly-rock from multiple holes.
My previous wife said the same thing…

The earth-shaterring kaboom was removed from the footage as it was found to cause undue stress and trauma to the lesser known Earless Lizard.
You can see a fair bit from the road, there’s a viewing area not far from the cotter… definitely worth a look.
Urriara x-ing, rightish fairlight road (becomes loose metal), (left at the end), right at the end of that (now sealed), left towards cotter, stop just before the cotter (viewing area is on a blind left hand bend, watch for traffic), picnic/fish/swim/kayak at Causarina on the way through….then back via Cotter rd.
Or just cycle it like half of Canberra seems to do. Note there were signs advertising a road race or something this weekend so there are likely to be delays/road closures.
There was supposed to be an Earth-shattering Kaboom?
