The ABC has word that the trial for the murder of Brendan Scott Walsh in 2010 has come to a speedier than expected conclusion:
The man accused of murdering Brendan Scott Walsh in Canberra’s south two years ago has pleaded guilty just a week out from his trial.
Mr Welsh was shot in the chest with a double barrel shotgun as he sat in his car at the Hughes shops in May 2010.
Kai Yuen, 28, was charged with his murder and had been due to stand trial next week after pleading not guilty.
The ACT Supreme Court trial was to take eight weeks with more than 100 witnesses.
But in a surprise move today Yuen changed his plea to guilty, avoiding a trial.
Sentencing will be in April. Alleged conspirators Cameron Ashcroft and Todd Elphick are still awaiting trial.
