ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery in Kaleen last night (Wednesday, October 24).

Around 5pm a man entered the Kaleen Newsagency and threatened staff with a firearm, demanding cash.

Staff members complied with his demands and the man left the store running across Georgina Crescent and then onto Staaten Street.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance and aged between 20-25 years of age. He was wearing tracksuit pants, a grey hooded jumper and large sunglasses.

Detective Acting Superintendent Bob Wynn said staff acted appropriately by complying with the offender’s demands.

“No amount of money or stock is worth the threat to human life,” Acting Superintendent Wynn said.

Anyone who saw someone matching the description of the offender in the area around the time of the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

Holy crap. I go into that centre every second day after work. The newsagent staff are usually kids working their part time jobs after school. How long will it take the checkout girl to get over this?

Blokes who point guns at teenage girls in shops deserve to be whipped furiously. Then shot. Then shot again. The shot a few more times.

If only.

Removing these worthless creatures from society would unfortunately undermine Australia’s $10Billion/year illicit drug industry, and people in that particular industry who see their livelihood being threatened are somewhat more proactive at taking the appropriate measures than those working in any other industry.

There are two things that could be done on a legislative level to eliminate this kind of crime entirely:

1/ Abandon prohibition, which, as Police Commissioner Palmer has admitted, doesn’t just ‘not work’, but actually creates a variety of much bigger problems.

2/ 3 strikes. There is no valid reason why anybody should have a criminal record extending longer than 3 offences. None whatsoever. If you’ve been caught and prosecuted 3 times, that should be the end of you. Society doesn’t need you. Letting these repeat offenders back out into society is nothing more than a deliberate inflicting of crime upon society for the benefit of drug importing and distributing mafia.

The description narrows it down to perhaps 100,000 people.

Geez – it takes a gun to rob a newsagent?? More great news for my local area, following the Caltex Service station one and the BWS one….
