Kambah house fire. A hero emerges

ACT Fire & Rescue are on scene at a fire in a kitchen on Trussell Place, Kambah.

Fire has been extinguished.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call 1.00pm.

Update to follow.

1:22 PM

ACT Fire & Rescue are about to commence air monitoring and ventilation operations.

A passer-by noticed smoke and flames from the house. After gaining entry through the front door, the passer-by crawled through the house to rescue an elderly male from the house and started to extinguish the fire with a garden hose.

ACT Fire & Rescue arrived to fully extinguish the fire.

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics are also on scene and have assessed one patient for smoke inhalation. Transportation to hospital is not required.

Extensive damage contained to the kitchen and hallway.

Cause of fire food stuffs cooking on a stove.

I know the guy. He doesn’t want accolades and figures anyone else would have done the same thing.

Thing is – anyone else doesn’t do this type of thing.

I just hope for his/her sake that they haven’t recently had knee surgery, as crawling through a house on fire can’t be good for the knees – especially if the ambos arrive and attack you for no reason at all as soon as you exit the house……..

Awesome effort. Well done whoever they were.

Wow,someone who actually did something pretty considerable, rather than the standard pull out mobile phone, ring firies, stand and watch. He’ll get a medal, going into a burning house is no cakewalk.
