Police arrested two Kambah men, a 20-year-old and a 29-year-old following the assault of a police officer last night (Sunday, December 2).

Police attended Chirnside Circuit in Kambah following reports of men riding ‘pocket’ bikes in the street.

Upon arrival they witnessed a man riding a ‘pocket’ bike without a helmet at speed up the street and into the back yard.

When an officer went to speak to one of the men he was assaulted.

A second man attempted to stop police from apprehending the first, and was also taken into custody.

The first offender has been charged with three counts of common assault, obstructing a territory official and several traffic offences. The second offender was charged with common assault and obstructing a territory official.

So, That’s why they call them monkey bikes then…

Does anyone know where you can actually ride these?

Private land only, i.e. your back yard.

Idiots, would have got a slap on the wrist or fine at worse.

Does anyone know where you can actually ride these? They’re not allowed on the road, you can’t ride them in the forest as police bust people, the govt closed down all the bike tracks like the one in narrabundah. Seems like people riding them through the burbs is the result.

They will get worse punishment from anti hoon laws than they will for smacking the cops , something to think about

They say pocket bikes are a gateway vehicle leading to purchasing white commodores………

Hopefully they get a decent amount of time locked up. Doubtful in this town though

They’ll be lucky to get a slap on the wrist!

those horrible little mini-bikes are loud-as. What dicks, thinking they could blast around on those things and not get complaints or police reports. Good on the cops for acting on this, too often this kind of neighbourhood nuisance is put in the “not important enough” basket.

I wonder if that was the same person who has been riding a pocket bike around in Fyshwick lately? I’m guessing I won’t be hearing it today then.

You’d have to be an absolute facktard to assault police after you’ve been busted for being an idiot.Perhaps repeated tasering might make them reconsider their actions?

Way to upgrade from “stern talking to” to “criminal record for assault”. That’s how you win at life!
