A Kambah mother has been revealed as the mystery winner of $1.7 million in last weekend’s Saturday Lotto $30 Million Megadraw.

She is one of two Canberra people to enjoy a New Year windfall, with a Mawson man winning $100,000 in the latest Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, says she is re-evaluating her plans for 2019 after discovering she won the ‘game-changing’ amount.

She was one of the 17 division winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 3907, drawn on Saturday 29 December 2018. Each entry took home a division one prize of $1,764,705.89.

“Wow, I didn’t think this sort of thing happened in real life,” she told a Lotto official.

“My mother had mentioned to me the other day that there was an unclaimed ticket from the newsagency where I had bought my entry. And I thought, ‘I haven’t checked mine yet, imagine that.’ I can’t believe it is actually me!”

The woman said she was not a regular player and was struggling to believe she’d be starting 2019 as a millionaire.

“We have a big family and we’ve been a bit stressed about money so it will be amazing to pay off the mortgage and pay some bills,” she said.

“I haven’t thought beyond that though. This is very unexpected and will certainly change our plans for the year. We’re going to be debt free. This is a game changer!”

The winner purchased her winning 50 game QuickPick at Kambah Newsagency at Kambah Village Shopping Centre, which last sold a winning division one entry three years ago.

The Mawson man is planning an early retirement after winning the guaranteed 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10264, drawn on Wednesday 2 January.

He said he had been playing Lucky Lotteries for 24 years and the most he had ever won was about $400.

The man, who also wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Southlands Newsagency in Mawson.
