Kambah to get a master plan

Brendan Smyth is celebrating getting an Assembly vote in favour of the production of a master plan for Kambah Village.

“I am delighted that the Assembly agreed with my proposal for the Kambah Village master plan, as a review of retail and other services within Kambah is now well overdue,” Mr Smyth said.

“I have been concerned for some time about the condition of the Kambah Village buildings and the general environment surrounding these retail facilities. I also have received considerable feedback from people in the Kambah community expressing concern about the state of the Kambah Village precinct…

“A master planning process can include consideration of how to incorporate Kett Street more effectively into the overall Kambah Village precinct,” Mr Smyth said.

Kambah is the largest residential suburb in Canberra and the retail structure that was provided when this suburb was first developed in the 1970s is now no longer appropriate.

“I look forward to the contribution that the community will make to the development of a master plan that will guide the evolution of Kambah Village for the following decades,” Mr Smyth concluded.

Well now that the Kambah Inn has lost all the f#ckwittedness and they now have decent clientelle such as us, renovating it even better than what they have already done recently would be a fantastic addition. Making it the more friendly environment with us normal people instead of the stuck-up fancy posh sunday unsociable wanna be’s as you find in most of Canberra’s clubs.

Ahhh but you see…it is those stuck-up, fancy, posh, Sunday, unsociable wanna-be’s who have more money to spend than you do. I know who I’d be catering for.

maybe not – but there’s enough to feed some steel sheep. 🙂

What about we turn the surface carparking into a second supermarket like dickson? Only problem is that we’ll loose our convenient parking and have to go underground.

*just kicking off the thread again*

What should be done at The Village and Kambah in general.

1. Renovate the Kambah Tavern.
2. Expand and renovate the Woolworths.
3. More parking at the Village
4. Redesign the intersection between the Caltex petrol station and the Village entrance closest to the Tavern.
5. Redevelop Mannheim Street shops (small apartment block maybe?)
6. Demolish and rezone the Livingston Ave. “shops”
7. Redevelop the IGA “Vick and Rick’s” on Boddington Cres.
8. Redevelop the “Kambah Centre” located within Jenke Circuit.
9. Rezone Kambah Oval 3 for residential development.

lol
Good to see the most important thing in Kambah is to renoavte the Tavern. I suggest they also incorporate a White Commodore only parking section and a White Commodore only drive through lane at the bottle shop. Kambah Roolz

Have it renamed Mullyville Heights.

The local “national” dress will be a blue flanny and ugg boots and adidas trackies with gold chains for formal occasions.

somewhere to get a beer that isn’t a club or the Kambah tavern.

Whats wrong with the club, unless you like paying $6 for a schooie, and drinking in a large open space with big TVs. Give me a club over a tavern anyday.

You are more than welcome to keep going to a club *I* would prefer an alternative.

The Carelton st shops are really good but Kambah Village looks derelict.

I presume you mean the ‘theos’ shops, since that seems to be the only business there that ever looks open, and even then Ive been past a couple of times for food and theyve been closed, I presume simply because we were there at the wrong time, and not because theyre the last store in the block to go out of business.. actually, wait, I think once when I was there, I saw a dance school, or at least ads for one.

I also think having a monster construction site across the road, makes it look like its being demolished, rather than utilised.

I was hoping for a 4 metre high concrete wall with machine gun towers every 50 metres.

Closing the Kambah Inn would be a good start. The degree of their clientele’s f#ckwittedness in unmatched anywhere.

I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

I own a rental property just down the road from Kambah Village. So anything they do is only going to increase the value of my gorgeous, little ex-govie shoe box. Go Kambah!!
