Yesterday afternoon Labor’s Karl Maftoum (Brindabella) exercised his right as a Lego donor to get us down to Kambah’s Burns Club. Where he’d organised a hefty turnout of supporters.

Karls priorities included: Parking, integrated education, technology incubators for small business, disability access ramps in all buildings, sporting facilities, dog parks and green spaces, roads without potholes, cyclists, integrated transport plans, high speed rail, and Canberra as the people’s capital.

But don’t take my word for it, he explains all in the video.

The next one is Meegan Fitzharris (Labor for Molonglo) tonight at Gungahlin’s Siren Bar

(Candidates who haven’t slotted themselves in are advised that there will be no candidate challenges after 28 September and we need a week’s notice, so they better get in quick, and should email john@the-riotact.com )

Here’s our nifty calendar, you the public are reminded that you’re very welcome to come along to these things:

Love the ideas, junior sport needs a lot more support – cant wait for Southwell park to be completed and we get our grass netball courts back.

So business as usual with slight improvements then? Never mind we are entering a perfect storm of environmental, energy, food and political crisis. Never mind that we are in the midst of a glorious revolution in technology, which is allowing us to print eco houses, telecommute and have driverless transport. For the first time in all of human history we have the opportunity for direct democracy and a networked smart society. We could eliminate homelessness and joblessness, we could even strive towards a fully automated society where no one has to work. Canberra is perfectly placed to be a model city of the future, if our government had some drive and vision we could be rolling out innovative tech and leading the way globally.

Nope, we’ll just focus on parking our cars and walking our dogs shall we?

It was a really good afternoon – thanks to everyone who came along.

I’ve just put up a blog post which explains a bit more about what we were putting together and how we came to build what we did.
