Foolhardy forty something Zenpuck came off second best when trying to tangle with a tree on his trusty mountain bike at Majura Pines on Saturday.

Two wonderful mountain biking women helped stop the blood flow, called an ambulance and wheeled the steed through the overgrown tracks down to the carpark for the awaiting ambulance. They also made a call to let Mrs Zenpuck know what was happening, to pick up the bike, and meet at the hospital.

The ambulance staff patched zenpuck up in no time and escorted him to Canberra Hospital, keeping him comfortable and informed the whole way. These guys were the ultimate professionals and just incredibly nice people to boot.

Patient and gentle staff at the hospital then cleaned out the remaining pieces of the agressive pine and the doctor then sewed the hole with fine and painless needlework (and yes Zenpuck will play the piano again).

In a world where there is a constant barrage on the idiot box of the worst of mankind can deal out, it is fantastic to, through misfortune, meet some many wonderful and selfless people.

Zenpuck hopes you are rewarded 100 fold for your kindness and sends out a huge thank you. He will also stick to the fire trails for a while.

So good to hear praise where it’s due.

Back to the training wheels?

It’s one of the great things about Mtnbiking that everyone does this sort of thing. It’s a bit of goes around comes around thing. It’s a dangerous sport – you have crashes and generally they are out in the weeds somewhere. So you help people if they need it. One day you might need the same.

Mtnbikers – great bunch of people.

X eleventyconanofcoomabillion.

No broken bones? It’s not all bad then!

Much praise to the ladies who helped you out, too.

Hopefully you’re back on the bike in time for the Urban Polaris: http://www.urbanpolaris.org.au/ (Entries close today!)

Love your story, it is a reflection on some of the great people you will find in the forest.

Plenty of options to pay back some (MTB) karma here…

Hope to see you back on the bike soon… or trackside or shovelling.
