CityNews have a story professing to be Kate Carnell’s vision of Mother’s Day.

Being an evil bastard this was one of my first warnings that this day was soon upon us.

Do any of you buggers do (or get) anything for the biggish day?

$60 on flowers, conscience eased for another year.

LG, Happy Mothers day for Sunday, or in your case, Happy Super Mothers day cause you are going it alone.

I’d wish it to my single mother friend in person but she is too busy being a legend. I’m sure you know how it is.

Last year I got a good night’s sleep (had a newborn) from other half who volunteered to do night duty. This year, the agreement is we don’t give presents until the kids are old enough to make it themselves.
As for giving stuff, my mum likes presents so I always send her something – Kingston markets are a good place to shop.

I don’t get along with my mother, so I don’t have to buy anything (although I do send my fab Stepmother a card). And one of the joys of being a “partnerless mother” (oh God that sounds offensive!) means that there is no-one to buy a present for your kid to give you.

Anyway, my child is with her father this mothers day, but I anticipate getting something really crappy that she has made for me at school, which will be way better than a bought present anyway. Oh, and a $75 leather wallet that I bought and asked a friend to give her to give me…..

Sounds like one of the reasons I fled the country.
