Kate would like to thank the Canberra people for re-electing her to the Senate, which is nice.

Kate if you really would like to thank me, do so by promising me that from now on you’ll always turn your phone on its side before filming a YouTube video.

Honestly I have no idea what she said in this clip, I couldn’t get past the impression that you had fallen into a mine shaft and were asking very politely for a rescue.

Great, now we’ll get another three years of… whatever it was she was doing for us before.

Let me sum up what she was doing before….. nothing.
Simple.

She needs to update her website, she is no longer:
Minister for Multicultural Affairs
Minister Assisting for Innovation and Industry
Minister Assisting for the Digital Economy

Actually she is. That’s why Mr Abbot is currently refered to as the “Prime Minister elect”. Ministers (and Prime Ministers) retain their titles until the new PM and their Ministers are sworn in by the Governer-General.
Of course in practice this is meaningless as caretaker conventions are pretty clear about not binding a new government and the outcome of the election is clear.

Technically she is still the caretaker minister until the new ministry is sworn in, likely to be sometime next week.

Did she have to interview herself with her phone because she knows that no TV station will bother interviewing her about her scrape over the line.

Her scrape over the line is bigger than Zed’s scrape over the line. The labor senate seat was never in doubt, many labor voters deliberately gave preferences to other parties because its the best way to stop Zed from getting a seat.

I suggest that Zed fights hard to finish the NBN rollout in Canberra as FTTH and also suggest getting some funding for projects like the Barton and Kings highways if after all Tony is to become the Infrastructure Prime Minister.

Is it just me or does anyone else think the ALP is using the term “cuts” as a euphemism for a naughty word with similar spelling?

A stunning suggestion.

If they’re not, they should be.
