Katy and her Youth Council

Katy Gallagher has announced that her Youth Advisory Council is looking for bright eyed youth to help her keep it real.

For the purpose of this exercise “youth” is defined as ages 12-25, a span the opposite ends of which might not have very much in common. On behalf of the 25 year olds who probably don’t frequent places like “schools, tertiary institutions, youth centres” I went poking around the Youth InterACT website for the application form.

Sadly I found only last year’s application form.

I did however note that in an effort to entice the youth the site was offering “games” because youth like games right? So much so they’ll log on to a government site to play them right? Because there’s no other way to get to games out there on the internet? (incidentally if you want to ruin your life and career you should try the incredibly compelling dicewars)

I was particularly intrigued by the title “Buttman” on a list of Government sponsored youth games. Sadly clicking through bought me a “Page not found” message.

So quite a bit of neglect to report on the youth front really. Katy should get herself a Myspace account, the friends list would be illuminating.

Total waste of time and resources.

Shouldn’t the section that has this mind boggling project be doing something useful? Like re-arranging bus timetables. Or working out how to keep statues clean?

Her friends list would be illuminating?

My daughter might mention what it was like being abducted from the ACT except she is only 5.

The Youth Commissioner should have a seat there too.

I gotta say though, for the youth commissioner or the human rights commissioner to be effective they need power over the courts, the law is far more brutal than human rights, and less accountable.
