Katy tells the estimates committee to get stuffed

ACT Treasurer Katy Gallagher has come out swinging in finally responding to the estimates committee report on her budget.

“The Committee report provides no input into the Budget as a whole, nor does it offer any suggestions on the Budget Plan, its object, targets, approach or the process of implementation.

“Many of the recommendations have little, if anything, to do with the actual Budget – recommendations such as extending the size of MLAs email inboxes, extending the deadlines for answering questions on notice and others in relation to the proposed purchase of Calvary Public Hospital.

“Instead, the report calls for more inquiries, more processes, more red tape, more green tape and more resources for the Liberals and Greens.”

Yesterday Zed Seselja announced the Liberals would vote against the budget. We now await a statement by the Greens.

Katy probably only wants bigger e-mail inboxes for disadvantaged refugee women with syphillis, hare-lips and mono-brows.

Would it be safe to assume that the examples quoted by Katy are not reflective of the total report? I would certainly hope so.

More stuff in inboxes (or archives) means more stuff that they’d have to hand over in a discovery process. Be careful what you wish for, Zed. Cuts both ways, that one.

…recommendations such as extending the size of MLAs email inboxes…

Good grief. Haven’t they heard of filing? And putting them in inbox folders does not count. I’m getting a picture here of inboxes with 10,000 emails in them. (yes, I have seen this! And searches were often needed, it was hell).
