For reasons passing understanding Chief Minister Gallagher is asking for your help in taking Canberra out of the analogue and into the digital.

ACT Chief Minister Katy Gallagher has announced the start of a citizens forum and business ‘digital’ survey and is calling on Canberrans to have their say on Canberra becoming a digital city.

“Canberra is ideally placed to be a leading city for the development and application of digital technologies. We have a thriving ICT sector and we are the home of world-class centres of research and innovation,” the Chief Minister said.

“As a government we have sought to use digital technology to improve consultation and service delivery to the Canberra community. We were the first government to hold a twitter cabinet and we are trialling WiFi at the Canberra Hospital whilst we look to deploy free public WiFi across the city. We are working to increase digital transactions and processes and we are promoting open government systems by ensuring information and data is available online for use by community members, business and innovators.

“This next step has been established to engage directly on how government, business and the broader Canberra community can work together to drive improvements in productivity, connectivity, innovation and services locally by using the latest thinking around digital technology.

“The Citizen Forum will be a place for people to share their ideas and suggestions for what a world leading digital city should look like, what opportunities there might be for Canberra and how we can promote and develop Canberra as a digital city.

Perhaps Mr Fork at TCH could have been better off with digital…

Perhaps had he combined digital with some anal-ogue then he wouldn’t have been in a world of pain..

Oh wow! They throw some cheap and nasty WiFi at us and think they’re the bees knees. Why do we need free WiFi in the city anyway? People are generally using cellular data and aren’t exactly going to fiddle with their phone settings just to walk through the area.
I think the government needs to spend less time and money doodling around with rubbish ‘community consultation’ and do something. Katy and her hot air party will be long gone before we see the outcomes of this.

Get the NBN up and running first, then fix up the black holes in our mobile phone systems and after that you can ask how to improve on digital services. Without the two mentioned above, any increased usage of our current system will bring it to a standstill, more than it already is. Also, get the Friday night footy broadcast in HD….

Perhaps Mr Fork at TCH could have been better off with digital…

Suggestion one: compare rego.act.gov.au with http://www.myrta.com.

Suggestion two: stop buggerising around with citizen forums and get your own house in order.
