Kayaking, but not as we knew it

I’m a big believer in YouTube’s power to offer us windows into other people’s worlds.

In this case it’s 171Talbingo’s leisurely world of techno fetishism and torturing small fish which is apparently “getting back to nature”.

Thoughts on the choice of music I leave to the reader.

But if any of you can tell me what the electronics forming his console do I’d be moderately fascinated.

Removing redfin and carp from the lake won’t make it native friendly.

Moving Canberra and Queanbeyan away from the lake would. The road runoff, raw sewerage, chemical spills and other filth that enters the lake are the problem.

Some scientists have even recommended draining the lake and starting again.

Would be nice to have Pandanus in there instead of carp tho…

That is one very nice fishing kayak, well laid out and equipped. My preference is to fish from a canoe as I can take the kids with me. Fish/depth sounder and GPS are the electronics.

Zedwad, lighten up! The lake might be a relatively young ecosystem (albeit manmade) but it is habitat for a number of native species that would prosper in the absence of redfin (and carp). I was disappointed that he threw them back in instead of quickly killing them thus removing them from the lake.

I hope you don’t think the same thing when hundreds of humans are killed in mudslides and earthquakes. After all, we’re pests as well. And humans do much more damage than redfin.

I think I saw a fish-finder (bigger) and GPS receiver (Smaller, with antenna wart). As-to make/model/capabilities: meh.

Looks to me like a bloke having a great afternoon trolling for redfin on the lake. Good on him.

To my mind it’s ironic that you bag the bloke for “techno fetishism”, but the same time are fascinated by his electronic stuff.

For the record it looks like a depth sounder and GPS unit.
