Ginninderra Creek

Allan has sent this in with the following note:

Thought the rest of Canberra might be amused with these pictures of a couple of kayaking enthusiasts making the most of the swollen Ginninderra Creek during our big wet last week. They were heading off down to Dunlop end somewhere – hopefully they stopped before Ginninderra Falls.

On a side note look at all the plastic bottles, and garbage strewn all over, and under, the bridge – Clean Up Australia Day looks like it might be a busy one in March.

We thought about doing this. Great to see someone actually went through with it. What fun!

They are going to get rid of plastic bags, what about plastic bottles? I wonder how the species survived before it had those all-important plastic bottles of water gripped in every paw?

That Latham/Flynn pedestrian bridge seems to be the “heavy rain” gauge for the region. You can judge the severity of the [current] big wet from the height it achieves against the bridge, as you pass by at 80km/h in the comfort of your car… It often reaches the bottom of the bridge, but rarely covers over the ‘black stuff’.

I wonder if that was old mate practicing for his Murrumbidgee adventure??
