Kulture Break Dance Nation

Close to 500 primary students from 23 Canberra schools have been busily rehearsing for a Centenary dance spectacular at the Royal Theatre on tonight (Thursday 27 June).

The event is the culmination of the school dance program Dance Nation, designed by Kulture Break to promote well-being and empowerment in primary students in celebration of canberra’s centenary.

Performances will be based on the theme 100 Years’ Celebration of What Makes Canberra Canberra, and include interpretations of Canberra’s 2003 bushfires, Summernats, Skyfire, multiculturalism, public servants and national treasures.

“It is fantastic to see so many schools involved with the program and providing the opportunity for so many students to share in something really special,” said Francis Owusu from Kulture Break.

“At Kulture Break we really want to inspire young people to be the best they can be and of course have heaps of fun. We have been able to do this through Dance Nation,” Francis said.

Dance Nation is one of 51 community-based projects funded through the Centenary Community Initiatives Fund. Kulture Break is a non-profit charitable organisation based in Canberra, dedicated to the wellbeing, transformation and empowerment of young people through dance.

Dance Nation is on tonight from 6.30 – 8.30pm at the Royal Theatre, National Convention Centre.

I left work just after 6pm and had 3 cars fighting over my car park out the front of the Convention Centre… Did no one realise that for $2 there are hundreds of spots under the centre… Holy crap.
