Kim Sattler on 7.30

The head of Unions ACT, Kim Sattler, got a lengthy run on the ABC’s 7.30 report last night.

Probably not how she’d have wanted to appear with her actions on Australia Day and involvement in the nationally humiliating fracas getting a forensic going over.

Is this thing human? Surely someone could not act so moronically – endanging the lives of not only the (so-called) leaders of our country but the AFP, the public and any bystanding memebr of the public who happened to be anywhere near there. I feel sorry for all the Unions and their members that this imbecile represents.

Unions ACT have come out fully in support of Kim Sattler. You would think they would express some reservations about Sattler’s behaviour on Australia Day – definitely misrepresenting Abbott, and inciting the Tent Embassy crowd.

Unions are dodgier than Tony Abbott. And that’s saying something.

I don’t see how telling people where the Leader of the Opposition and the PM are is somehow a dastardly act.

People have a right to protest, they have a right to protest their political leaders. All the trouble I saw from that day on the footage looks to have been mainly due to the over reaction of the police.

I’m not sure you have been paying too much attention to debate on this topic.

It is not so much that she told them where Abbott was, but what she alleged Abbott said about pulling down the tent embassy that is the point here.

She either misguidingly or deliberately provoked a confrontation, for whatever purpose, by putting words into Abbotts mouth that he himself did not utter.

Watch the video again.

+1. She sounds like she’s trying to incite a riot in the clips I’ve seen. She also blatantly lied about what Abbott said.

It does look suspiciously as if she is trying to gee the crowd along.

I won’t say incite, but it appears to be pretty close to.

And her conduct since the event has been absolutely appalling to say the least.

Considering the cops were too gutless to arrest anybody for riotous behaviour, public nuisance, criminal damage, or any other of the many options that were open to them for getting a good number of these shiftless parasites into a cell for the night, there doesn’t appear to be much justification for them “looking into” Kim Sattler’s actions, stupid as they were.

Isn’t “he/she has our full support”, in the context of political figures and sports team coaches, generally accepted as code for “we’re currently formulating our exit strategy”?

Exactly

Kim Sattler … Craig Thomson … very different issues, but a certain ilkliness ….

Our Kim has a way with words.

Unfortunately, I have been present when most of them would make a wharfie blush.

It’a a wonder the ABC Soviet allowed the segment to run. They must have been asleep. The ALP, Unions and The PM’s office seen in a bad light on the flagship 7:30 Report – surely not. Where was Senator Conroy? Was he too busy hacking into Andrew Bolt’s blog deleting anti government comments?

To be fair, Chris Uhlmann is one of the more balanced commentators/ interviewers in the country.

His family life must be hell.

I tend to her agree, she has really damaged her integrity in this matter.

My quick googling shows that she’s just some union boss. Has that position historically required integrity?

*Note: the effectiveness of googling may be unusually diminished in this case due to the proliferation of the same news story being brought up in the search results.

Far out – the Cannabis *is* getting potent if it’ll drive them to yell that at Kim Sattler…

Abbott has come out of this looking quite OK, once people hear his actual words, in which he praised Rudd’s Apology and sounded quite measured …

That was what scared me most about the whole thing.

She misquoted Abbott badly. She may have done so in good faith – if Tony Hodges had misreported Abbott’s words. Either Sattler or Hodges misbehaved. The police investigation will presumably clarify events. I thought from the footage it looked very much as though Sattler was inciting the crowd vicariously, through Barbara Shaw. Very mischievous. And the footage of Hodges had him looking oddly happy with events, considering that it was a near-riot around him! Abbott has come out of this looking quite OK, once people hear his actual words, in which he praised Rudd’s Apology and sounded quite measured …

I’d say Rufio is threatened by her haircut.

Anyone know if she is still in a job?

Where are these so-called “white supremacists” wearing white hoods who supposedly shouted abuse at her from a passing car? Do we even have such people in Australia?

I would suggest Kim stops hiring Mississippi Burning from the video store.

I suspect that she mistook a white Commodore full of bogans yelling out “Tits out”, or perhaps being derogatory about her appearance. That seems the more logical Canberra suburb experience.

Given that Ms Sattler was also shown recording the disturbance at close quarters, she was making the most of it all.

Kim, fess up and stop looking like an idiot.

Why would the white supremacists hate her? She suggested that MrRabbot said the Tent Embassy should be torn down (which I imagine they would support), and she provoked them into a rampage which caused Julia to look much worse the Tony (which I assume they would also like). The whities should by loving this women. Maybe their masculinity is threatened by he haircut?

@ pink_little_birdie,
That is exactly my point- full blooded aboriginals do not recognise half caste aboriginals (not in NT anyway), but half caste, 1/3 caste and so on – do not care, they want to be fully recognised.
Look, I was just expressing MY opinion based on what I saw and heard, you can chose to agree or disagree- this is democracy after all.You know, this discussion can run forever, it may even score us Mully Cup. 🙂
I consider this conversation is over, for me, anyway. 😉

Are you on the video there somewhere, protesting, bro? 🙂

And also what she said immediately after the event, what she is saying now and what she has said in between. Her claim in the CT that white supremists had sent material to her “unlisted” address is hilarious. The current Telstra White Pages shows “K. Sattler, 39 Nemerang Cres, Waramanga”

its what she said that abbott said which was taken out of context saying that he said the tent embassy should be teared down; when he more said that it was time to move on from that single point and keep going

Oh so that’s why there were “real” Aboriginal elders from remote communities at the Tent Embassy on the 26th Janurary…
I’d tell to to get a time machine and go to when Aboriginal people cared about caste but then you’d have no where to go

Have you been to NT?
“Real elders” were more likely selected from regulars, who frequent all those car parks on Mitchell or Smith Street in Darwin and brought in to Canberra? 🙂
Not those real elders from remote communities. I suggest that you visit that State, you would not need time machine to see that they still DO care about caste and who is making the bad name for them as a whole…
However, something tells me that you are making your claims based on what you see and hear from campers on the lawns of the Old Parliament House. 😀
Anyhow, this is how I see it- in 3D perspective, after my work visit there.

Yes I’ve been to the NT…
All the Aboriginal people I know don’t care and have never cared about Caste…
Hate to think that their are disadvantaged Aboriginal people living in urban enviroments, cos you know all the Aborignal people in Australia live in the NT or remote places.

I make my opinions by living as an Aborginal person in an Canberra. (“full blooded” Aboriginal father and European mother

Having spent whole last week in NT for work, having seen and spoken to plenty of REAL aboriginals (not half-blooded or 1/10 blooded, who represent the “embassy”, who aren’t even recognised by the full blooded as their own), all I can say is- these clowns here, at the Tent Embassy are just playing dress-ups for their own agendas, they have no support from the real ones, and obviously they have no support from me, and the rest of progressive white population.
Time to move on, like the rest of their fellow real indigenous people moved on, shut down the illegal camping site, and for Kim -to apologise to all. 🙂

You sir, are either an ass or the perfection of trolldom. Congratulations or commiserations accordingly.

Is this talk of ‘real elders’ some way of telling us that black fellas only have one opinion?
Coz they do, right?
Same as we white fellas all agree on everything, yeah?

?”Our Deputy Prime Minister Tony Abbott”? That’s a riot starter if I ever heard one.

Do you really think she cares? The Prime Ministers office may be feeling somewhat uncomfortable though. (More than they already do)

Every time she opens her mouth to change her story *again*, I cringe a little harder.

Perhaps she’s holding out for a position with the Ministry of Truth?
