ACTPol_Traffic is tweeting that, following a two vehicle collision on the Kings Highway that road is now closed between Queanbeyan and Bungendore.

Alternative routes to and from the coast will need to be found until it opens. Apparently diversions are in place.

It must have been serious. I saw three ACT police cars heading out that way. I didn’t know ACT Police had three cars.

I wonder if any of the ‘local’ coppers from the defence HQJOC took the short drive down their driveway to assist with the accident?

They aren’t cops, they are Protective Service Officers, you know Security Guards with Police Uniforms…

…I just hope accidents like these… don’t cause the government to demolish that whole area (including sparrow) and build a straight road to Bungendore…

Um… maybe not all of it, but a decent chunk. In fact, it’s partially already cleared – expect the road works to start soon.

The road wouldn’t be dangerous if people didn’t drive beyond their ability.

Could not agree more. Im often towing on that road to the coast (whether it be a van or a boat), and even while sitting on the speed limit its amazing the number of impatient drivers who will overtake. It makes the road dangerous for everyone on it, just so they can save a couple of seconds on their drive.

Unfortunately, according to the RTA the accident was a fatality.

I wondered where it was when they announced the crash on the radio (“King’s Highway” didn’t narrow it down much).

The road wouldn’t be dangerous if people didn’t drive beyond their ability.

I don’t know what happened, I drive that road pretty often and I don’t find it that terrible. Just like any other road. Just need to pay attention.

As a keen biker, I ride sparrow often and I just hope accidents like these be it driver error or raod conditions don’t cause the government to demolish that whole area (including sparrow) and build a straight road to Bungendore…

Hope everyone is ok.

Sparrow Hill is where a lot of people MTB out that way.

The accident was at the area know as Sparrow Ridge, part of the ACT – where a lot of people mountain bike. It has always been a dangerous stretch of road. I just hope the people are ok.

It must have occured on a stretch that is in the ACT.
