Comments for the proposed public art on Lake Ginninderra will close on 29-SEPT-05 on email address app.sec@act.gov.au

This is the first time I have seen a DA for artwork as opposed to buildings. I do like the concept and hope it works.

Trust the suspension does not make carp chowder! Future night jetskiers will have something to navigate by.

The rules on comments will be changed shortly so that you will not be able to object to future development applications unless you are financially dis-advantaged. Objections are holding up new blocks of flats, depriving the ACT of rates and developers of work.

I don’t understand how it has not got any publicity, personally, I quite like it. It will be controversial like so much public art. It will not be everyones cup of tea.

You can have a look at the DA here.

I’m not sure whether I like it or not yet. My impression so far is that it has the potential to be either really ugly or really cool. One way or another, it’ll look bizarre.

Mini Carellian for Mini Canberra in Mini LBG. Not that I’ve got a problem with it, but why copycat something that’s already there ?

(discarding the obvious fact that the Carellian is land based and this is water)

Is this to be the Siev-X memorial ?

It certainly fits the bill:

1. It moves like the swaying of the ocean
2. It’s subsurface
3. It’s got a cheesy light in the sky like the twin towers memorial
