Kismet Turkish in the City!

Just had a fantastic lunch at Kismet in one of the new UniLodge buildings.

Have always been a fan of the kebabs and pizzas in Kismet Manuka – so tasty and healthy (at least, they feel healthy) – but I don’t live or work around there so would only occasionally visit.

I am now happy to see them open so close to uni – food options on campus are increasingly more expensive and really average quality.

Plus their coffees (I mean espresso – although I think they also do turkish coffee) are excellent.

Highly recommended!

Benz690, I hope you cut back the salt in the chicken kebabs compared to the Fez recipe.

The Fez ones were so salty as to be virtually inedible for anyone who wasn’t p*ssed.

That said, the lamb ones were fine, as were the felafel ones.

I’d also make a plea to open more days… it’s impossible for a kebab joint not to make a buck in Green Square seven-days-a-week. If you can’t do it personally, hire someone.

Used to be Fez, now it’s Kebab-A-Lon. The kebab’s are Turkish style i guess you could say.

Anyway, for those who enjoy a good kebab, come down to Kingston on Friday or Saturday night. You won’t be disappointed!

Interesting! Is Fez (or whatever its new name will be) a middle eastern kebabery, or will it be north african? (The Fez thing has me wondering).

Yep – since Aslan moved from Fez to Mavi (in Hotel Realm) about 18-24months ago(?), the quality at Fez in Kingston has really dropped – and it’s so rarely open…

Fez is now under new ownership dude, and also has a name change coming.

At the moment it will only be open on Friday & Saturday evenings (due to other work committements) but towards the warmer days of the year, we will be open all evenings and mon-fri daytimes.

Please come past and take the Kebab-A-Lon challenge, and you won’t be disappointed. 🙂

Fez in kingston is hardly ever open, its for sale and has been for the last year the price has dropped so far now i think they want about 60k for it. When ever i go passed it is closed

The kebab was average. I maintain my belief that you can’t get a good kebab in Canberra.

Kismet has slipped a bit in recent times.

Fez in Kingston is still the goods tho. =9

+1. We had it last week for lunch and the food was great.

I had a kebab for lunch from there today – I think they are great too 🙂

I saw them make a coffee today (though I didn’t get a good look) and the bloke seemed to do things properly – freshly ground beans, levelled, tamped etc. – not some super-automatic job.

that’s the best news this year thus far 🙂
