ACT Policing has arrested a 26-year-old Victorian man after an incident at the entrance to Summernats this morning (December 8).
About 5.35am police were called to the main entrance to Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) after Summernats security staff saw a man carrying a knife.
Police spoke to Summernats security staff who informed the police that a man had approached the main entrance to EPIC and had been seen placing a knife in his back pocket. It is believed that the man did not threaten any staff or patrons with the knife. The man was approached by an off-duty security guard who removed the knife from the man’s pocket.
The man was arrested by police without incident and taken to the ACT Watch House. He is expected to be charged with possess knife without reasonable excuse in a public place and will be required to attend the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
