ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a road rage incident yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, August 24) which started in Greenway before ending in Civic.
Around 5.45pm yesterday, a black Lexus RX400 four wheel drive was stopped at a set of traffic lights on Drakeford Drive, Greenway when it was struck by a grey or beige coloured Land Rover Freelander four wheel drive.
The woman driving the Lexus got out of her car and approached the driver’s side of the Land Rover to exchange details.
At this time the man driving the Land Rover, described as Caucasian, aged in his mid twenties, with a solid build, short blond hair and clean shaven drove away from the collision scene, running over the woman’s foot.
The woman returned to her vehicle and continued on her way.
A short time later, while travelling along Parkes Way, the man driving the Land Rover has driven alongside the Lexus and made several threatening gestures towards the woman with a large knife.
The incident was reported to police and through a coordinated response by ACT Policing General Duties, City Beats and Specialist Response and Security officers located the Lexus on Commonwealth Avenue, with the woman unharmed.
Police conducted an extensive search for the Land Rover, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, saw either of the two vehicles around 5.45pm yesterday, or recognises the man described above to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
Could be a case of domestic bliss gone wrong..

It’s certainly a pretty weird story. Other questions include why the woman didn’t report the incident to police back in Greenway, after first being hit by the other car, and having her foot run over? Apparently she just continued on her way? And why, after finally reporting the incident to police after seeing a knife, did it take some type of coordinated response to find the woman? It almost sounds like it wasn’t the woman involved who actually reported it, but another driver who saw what was going on, and called it in themselves. Surely if it was the woman being threatened who called police, it wouldn’t have taken this effort to find her?
I’m putting this one down to ‘sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction’.

No Mate, that’s just your Jelousy weighing in!
To clariffy, I do not own a Lexus (or a damn soft-roader, or any 4wd for that matter) but even with an anual clock up of 60,000km to 80,000km, I have yet to se one damn BMW driven by anything other than a Dick!
I have however encountered Lexus’s that were driven by rational, and normal people.
Not saying there are no dicks in Lexus’s, but unlike a BMW, it does not seem to be a purchase requirement!
Possibly that comes down to the type of person who is willing to forgo the Reliability of your average Japanese car, in exchange for a Euro statement with a promise to make you great friends with your mechanic!
How did the woman get in front of the 4WD? Was she chasing him down the Parkway? Or was he waiting for her?
Parkes Way is what? 15kms away?

Yep, just a luxury end Toyota!
It’s like a BMW that’s actually reliable, And as a bonus, you don’t have to be a dick to drive it!

I like to call them toyotas with leather seats.

That’s quite an imagination you have there.

Makes sense, everyone knows that Camry drivers are the new Volvo drivers, and Lexii are just glorified Toyotas!
I wonder if it’s the same guy from an earlier road rage incident involving a beige Land Cruiser and an ACTION bus (Wednesday, August 17 – Hopetoun Circuit in Yarralumla)…

Either way, it seems people driving Land Cruisers have some serious issues to deal with 😛

I’ve had my fair share of run-ins with drivers of Lexii and I must say, they’re all a cut above the rest, or at least they think they are! Probably the 21st century equivalent of Volvo drivers!

Wait? If you are pretending that they have run over your foot, then why do you need to actually put your foot under the wheel?

That was a Land Cruiser, and the driver has apparently been located if the comments on that story are correct.

Some of you love a good conspiracy theory don’t you? Tin foil hats for all!
I dare say that the victim, having had her foot run over then threatened with a knife might have been a little distracted and unfortunately failed to note down the rego.
By the way, wasn’t it a land rover that rammed the bus the other day? Could be a connection.
flat shoe even…

Dare I say that it was her left foot run over, and if she kept driving-she drives automatic, no need to engage left foot, even if she’s in pain.

Spot on & deye it was only a Freelander, they are not really a 4WD. Mid size station wagon that runs on front wheel drive & only transfers the drive to rear if there is slip at the front.
