ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to assist in the investigation of an assault and robbery at a store in Woolley St, Dickson last night (Sunday, January 1).

The offender entered the Top Goods Asian Groceries store around 6.40pm and asked the 29-year-old staff member where items were located in the store. The offender then struck the man on the back of the head, possibly with the butt of a knife, and stole a sum of cash from the register before fleeing the store.

The offender is described as a tall Caucasian, aged in his late 30s to early 40s, wearing a black shirt, brown shorts, brown workboots, and with tattoos on his legs. He was thought to be armed with a knife.

The staff member was transported to The Canberra Hospital where he received treatment for cuts to his head.

Police are urging anyone in Woolley St or the general Dickson area yesterday around 6.40pm and who may have seen the offender as described or any other suspicious behaviour to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
