Tax time headache?
Let us crunch the numbers

know any good hairdressers at a reasonable price?

By Remi2 22 January 2008 40

 Hi all,

My locks are getting a bit long for my liking.  Can anyone recommend a good  haircut without costing the earth?

I had a workmate the other day pay $$$$ (can’t remember but it was pricey) for a style haircut. She also got a “free” glass of wine.

I don’t want wine, I just want a simply style cut.

Thanks for any suggestions.

What’s Your opinion?

touche, the jas! gianni at axis still always cuts me (he’s the second best cutter i’ve met; best sadly now lives in london) and the coffee and wine is just part of the service, not the main attraction. if anyone is sucked in by wine then they deserve the cut they get, i rekkun.

go axis, yay.

I just had images of things sticking to your head.

ie, cats, beer bottles, etc…

hahaha

“If you are a male I’d suggest you shave your head altogether with a razor and shaving cream. It is all the rage at the moment and gives you a tough guy look. No more dandruff either.”

I’ve done a razor job a few times, but it has a few downsides compared to razor 0 on the clippers… it takes longer; razor cuts are a bastard; you gotta cut more often (daily) to maintain the look; I find the skin my head on day 0 is too grippy – shirts, pillow cases, hats feel like they stick to my head; the head stubble on day 1 is too much like velcro – again I get stuck on things.

so you are now bald s-s-a ?

My hairdresser is a qualified ex trade hairdresser – he charges me 10 bucks and I always get a beer and a good yarn – haircut is ok too 🙂

On the subject of good hairdressers – if anyone knows where JASON from NEXT is now I would be very grateful to find out. My hair is lost without him – boo hoo!

Any good female hairdressers in Belco? I’ve been going to hair spectrum at the mall for years, but I haven’t liked the last couple of cuts. – Nemo, like Thumper says, check out the all girl hairdresser shop at the back end of Kippax mall, and theres another one up in Holt shops that may interest you.

Fair warning though, if its your eye you are interested in pleasing, there’s not much candy in the shop.

Thumper 8:26 am 23 Jan 08

Ah, people, it’s a haircut….

Not the collapse of the yen…

And there are three hairdressers in Kippax, don’t ask me their names as I have no idea, I just go to which ever one happens to have the least customers.

Martios in Civic, next to King Omaleys. Excellent service, great cuts and great prices. Used them for years. When my hair went kind of bad a year ago (some weird out of the blue scalp and dry hair thing), they put me onto some American Crew shampoo and after months of flake scalp and dry broken hair, using the new shampoo cleared it in a week!

I used to pay a fortune for my haircuts, and they were never any good. So I got some scissors from hair attack, and now people sidle up and ask where I get my hair cut.

doing your own just involves having a vacuum cleaner close by and half an hour.

“there’s someone at the Uni of Canberra a few of my friends go to, I think the good cutter’s name is Lou or something like that”

That would be Leo, used to go to him when I had hair – great haircuts and pretty good prices. He also does body piercing too!

Not that fast, I’m just vain more than anything.

You can tell Just Cuts have done an ‘interesting’ job when they leave your hair dripping wet and hurry you out the door…

howdy 8:09 pm 22 Jan 08

Wow Jas your hair grows fast!

Depends what you call reasonable, I go to Axis in the city, it costs just under $50, you get wine/coffee/juice etc but that is not why I go there. They have good service and are always on time, a big thing for a time poor person like myself and the girl that cuts my hair does a great job. I used to go to Off London, same prices, always running 30 mins-1 hour late and not the same service, they are way overbooked to get the $$ in. $50 for a guys haircut may seem like a lot (according to most of my mates) but I think it’s fine, I go every 6 weeks and it’s all good.

For the record, I will never go in to Just Cuts, did that as a kid, they don’t give you a hairdo, they give you a hair don’t.

thats reasonable considering he keeps trying to escape, pisses on the clippers and humps the groomers leg

I do most of that to my hairdresser (see earlier comments) and still pay nothing!

farout 4:16 pm 22 Jan 08

My shih-tzu’s haircut costs $45. But thats reasonable considering he keeps trying to escape, pisses on the clippers and humps the groomers leg.

Am I the only one who’s noticed the hairdressing and grooming articles running side-by-side here??

(Sorry – I tried not to post this, but couldn’t help it…)
