A 26-year-old Macquarie man was arrested yesterday afternoon (Sunday, March 18) for the robbery at a north side chemist in January.
About 8.20pm on Sunday January 29, a man entered the Ginninderra Pharmacy on Nettlefold Street, Belconnen, and walked to the rear. A staff member offered assistance to the man however when informed he would need a script for the medication he wanted, the man pushed past the staff member and went into the store room.
A short time later the man walked out of the store room to the dispensary area where, after looking through baskets of pre filled scripts, grabbed a box of medication and fled the area on foot.
ACT Policing Criminal Investigations detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Macquarie yesterday afternoon where they located the alleged offender hiding behind a couch.
At the conclusion of the search warrant the 26-year-old was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today where he will be charged with robbery. Police will be opposing bail.
