Krispy Kreme 7-Eleven Price Increase

My wife loves Krispy Kreme and with 7-Eleven now stocking them I have brought some over the last month at $8.95 for a 4 pack.

Howver, when I went in today that have risen to $11. How curious with the new tax year an increase in prices.

Anyone know why the increase or should I refer them to the ACCC?

Krispy Kreme original glazed donuts have less sugar than a large banana 11g compared with 17g. And the sugar in banana is the one that turns into fat so your body can use it eventually

Just a follow up on my post to advise of two replies from Krispy Kreme regarding this matter – nothing sinister like the carbon tax.

“Krispy Kreme have not increased their prices and our doughnuts are still at $7.95 for a 4 pack of Original Glazed and $8.95 for a 4 pack of assorted.

We would appreciate it if you could advise which store you visited to see this price so that we can take action on this.

“Good morning Allan

We have spoken to 7 Eleven yesterday, Thursday 5th July in regards to your email. They did advise that they had a scanning problem that affected all of their stores on Sunday 1st July which impacted a number of their products, not just Krispy Kreme.

Instead of scanning at a 4 pack price, it scanned them at individual sale prices. They advised that they were unable to have this problem fixed on the Sunday however it was corrected on the Monday morning. All stores were notified of this error and were to correct the mark up manually, I am not aware as to why this store did not. We will provide 7 Eleven with the store you visited so they can discuss with them.”

ahh, thank god! normalcy reinstated.

as for dog bones, your local butcher is always a better option – dickson butchery has a good stock, will cut to your needs and smile at you. the chinese pork butcher in woolley st does likewise (though not always with the smile – perhaps they are aligned with a running shoe store?). give the duopoly a flick, when you can. i always tell people who pick up newspapaers while waiting to pay in woolies they should support the newsagent right outside. it often works…

Whenever I see some fatty eating one of these artery-hardeners, I think to myself, put down the “doughnut” friend and go for a walk around the building.

AFAIK, sodium hardens the arteries, cholesterol merely lines them with fat on the inside and therefore narrows them. Raises blood pressure. But alchohol thins the blood and counteracts the effect of the fat. So alcohol cancels out cholesterol.

And rock crushes scissors.

So they scanned higher than the shelf price?… 7-Eleven owe you a box of donuts.

If the price displayed at the checkout or on the customer receipt is higher than the shelf price, the customer is entitled to receive that item free of charge.

Are they still made in Sydney then shipped down here?

I wouldn’t know about Krispy Kreme. The thing that’s annoying me is bones at Woolworths. I buy the soup bones for the dogs and they’ve gone from $3.99k to $5.99 a kilo in one move. Is it because people make more soup in winter? It’s a 50% increase, Mr/s Woolworths. I can’t see any way you could have an increase in costs that could justify it, and I’m not buying it. Or the bones.

Try Coles – better variety and cheaper prices.

Or think outside the duopoly and check out your local butcher or Jordo’s Chop Shop online.

On topic. $11 sounds pretty pricey for a 4 pack of doughnuts.
Unless KK/711 is claiming the price increase is due to the carbon tax, I doubt the ACCC will have anything to say about it.

Yes, I do buy them from my local butcher sometimes, but before the recent price rise, theirs were overpriced at $5.50 for 3 bones. They’re now competitve. I don’t want the ‘brisket bones’ that have little on them, and I don’t want the lamb offcuts that are mostly fat. Hmm, maybe Feral and Cheryl would prefer a donut? (I know fat boy Feral would!)

I ate 3 in one sitting and had a food baby, they should be subsidised for lower income familes, some sort of food baby bonus.

It’s a fat tax.

It should be. Considering one KK doughnut is equivalent to eating 6 lamb chops.

WTF? How can you compare the nutrional value from 6 servings of red meat to something that is essentially sugar?

A lamb chop can form the basis of a nutrionally balanced meal, I don’t see how you can eat a donut and then smash out a 10k run or whatever.

If you are a regular eater of KK “doughnuts”, would you even have the energy to dial the ACCC, let alone thin enough fingers?

Whenever I see some fatty eating one of these artery-hardeners, I think to myself, put down the “doughnut” friend and go for a walk around the building.

Doughnut gouging … so that’s how they put the hole there.

In KK’s defence, they’re not just like any other doughnut … I find they give me much stronger and more sustained indigestion.

pretty easy, dont buy them if you think they cost too much. A buisness can sell them for whatever they like.

So, our cops will be striking for pay rises now?

🙂

I have eaten Krispy Kreme once in my entire life – and even then it was only half a donut. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Absolutely disgusting – and I can’t believe they are allowed to be freely sold without health warnings.

I’ve tried them a couple of times. They’re just ordinary doughnuts – nothing particularly good or bad about them. You can generaly get better at your local bakery. Like most American chains, the effort goes into the advertising, not into the product.

I wouldn’t approach the ACCC for a critical issue like this, ACA or TT will carry out a far more thorough investigation.

I wish you would capatalise your outrage. How are you going to get a Flame of the Month without it?
Yep, doughnuts are right up there with cigarettes.

Well, there is a lot of Carbon in sugar.

Glucose = C6H12O6 ((2R,3S,4R,5R)-2,3,4,5,6-Pentahydroxyhexanal)

…and there is a great big new shiny tax™ on that now.

Get down there around 7am and wait for the guys throwing yesterdays stock out. I’ve seen it several times at my local. Heck, if folks are willing to pay $11 for four crappy doughnuts then surely they are not above a bit of dumpster-diving?! 😉

Take this opportunity to inform your wife the fat content of a KK doughnut has risen from 55 cents to 68 cents and for the sake of your budget she needs to cut back.

Consider it an opportunity to become a swapper.

P.S. where did you bring them to?

I recon its also the cost of living on top of the Carbon tax. Every thing tends to go up in cost after July 1 every year.
