ANU are very excited that two of their own have been listed amongst the most influential researchers in Australia:

Professor Kurt Lambeck of the Research School of Earth Sciences and Professor Greg Stuart, Head of the Department of Neuroscience at The John Curtain School of Medical Research, were announced as recipients of the 2012 Thomson Reuters Australia Citation Awards at an event held at the National Press Club last week. The award acknowledges the researchers’ place at the top of their respective fields of geoscience and neuroscience.

Candidates were selected on the basis of both the volume and impact of their scholarly contributions. The award winners were those academics with the highest number of citations per piece of published research over the last decade according to the Thomson Reuters scientific journal database Web of Science.

Congratulations to them.

Met him 37 years ago. Smart fellow, obviously.
Worth paying attention to, unless you think you are smarter than he:

Heaven and Earth is not a work of science, it is an opinion of an author who happens to be a scientist.

Professor Plimer has said that Heaven and Earth is not written for the scientists but for the general public….If this had been written by an honours student, I would have failed it with the comment: You have obviously trawled through a lot of material but the critical analysis is missing. Supporting arguments and unsupported arguments in the literature are not distinguished or properly referenced, and you have left the impression that you have not developed an understanding of the processes involved. Rewrite!

Wow, not 24 hours after ANU medical research head told to source their own funding…

Seems like a bit of a paradox doesn’t it.
